1988 BMW 7-Series

This 1988 BMW 750i is a European-market short-wheelbasemodel that was reportedly imported to the United States in late 1987 andacquired by a previous owner in 1993. The car is finished in Delphin Metallicover black leather and powered by a 5.0-liter M70 V12 mated to an automatictransmission. BMW reportedly replaced the aluminum engine block at 108k miles,and the car now shows 120k miles. Recent service included replacement of thebrakes, calipers, suspension bushings, air-conditioning computer and an oilchange, and modifications include a Bluetooth head unit, 17” Style 21 “throwingstar” wheels, and Bilstein coil-overs. This E32 7-series is now offered at noreserve on behalf of the current owner with the factory wheels, service recordsdating back to 1993, a clean AutoCheck report, and a clean California title.

BMW introduced its V12-powered 7-Series to the US market forthe 1988 model year, but this short-wheelbase version was not offered in theStates. This car’s exterior is finished Delphin Metallic (184), and notedexterior imperfections include paint chips, door dings, scratches on the roofnear the sunroof, and stained molding below the gas cap. The left rear quarterpanel was reportedly resprayed following an impact with a bollard in a parkinggarage. No accidents or damage are shown on the accompanying AutoCheck report.

The factory wheels were replaced with 17” Style 21 “throwingstar” wheels mounted with 235/45 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires bearing 2014date codes. Each wheel can be seen up close in the photo gallery below.

A JVC Bluetooth head unit replaces the factory radio. Thedigital odometer reportedly shows 120k miles, approximately 78k of which havebeen added under current ownership.

The 5.0-liter M70 V12 produced 295 horsepower at 5,200 rpmand 332 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm when new, and it sends power to the rearwheels through an automatic transmission. The aluminum engine block wasreportedly replaced by BMW at 100k miles, and the air-conditioning computer wasrecently replaced.

The AutoCheck report lists no accidents or other damagealong with history in Texas and California. The car most recently passedCalifornia emissions testing in July 2019. A California Bureau of AutomotiveRepair sticker issued in 2001 is shown in the gallery.

The car is finished in DelphinMetallic over black leather and is powered by a 5.0-liter V-12 paired with afour-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 17” Style 21 wheels, asunroof, power-operated seats and windows, dual-zone automatic climate control,and an aftermarket JVC stereo. Service under current ownership involvedreplacement of the heater control valve and an oil change. The car is finished in Delphin Metallic (184) and features asunroof, fog lights, and European-market bumpers, which reduce the overalllength by nearly 5″ when compared to US-spec models. The left-rear quarterpanel is believed to have been repainted under previous ownership following aparking lot incident, and a portion of the hood was repainted under currentownership. The seller notes that the sunroof tilt function and rear windowheater are non-operational.

Silver 17” Style 21 “throwing star” wheels are mounted with235/45 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The car rides on Bilstein dampers thatwere installed by the previous owner, and stopping power is from four-wheeldiscs. The removed Style 3 wheels are included in the sale.

The interior features seats upholstered in black leatherwith wood trim accenting the dash, center console, and doors. Equipmentincludes power-operated seats and windows, a fold-down rear armrest, dual-zoneautomatic climate control, and an aftermarket JVC stereo. According to theseller, a warning light is illuminated for the right-front fog light, andprevious repairs to the headliner are visible.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometerand a 7k-rpm tachometer. The digital odometer indicates 122k miles,approximately 3k of which were added by the seller.

The 5.0-liter M70 V12 was factory-rated at 295 horsepowerand 332 lb-ft, and its aluminum engine block was reportedly replaced by BMW in2004. A replacement heater control valve was installed in August 2021, and thecooling system was refilled and bled.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automativetransmission. A protective coating was applied to the underside of thecar in 2020, according to the seller.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage andlists registration history in California and New Jersey. A BMW-branded batterycharger and car cover, the removed factory wheels, manufacturer’s literature,and service records are included in the sale.
