The body on the car is in very good condition and was very well maintained. These cars were notorious for rusting out due to a lack of zinc coating, but this car has always been in salt free climate so that is not an issue. The paint on the car is finished in it gorgeous original color Polar Silver Metallic and was just fully wet sanded and buffed to a blinding luster. The car doesn't have a single ding or dent and only a few chips which have been touched up. The car is riding on the optional 14" alloy sport wheels and BMW center caps. They look great and have a like new set of Pirelli radial tires mounted. All of the glass on the car is original on the car even the windshield. Stainless and chrome trim is all in place and in good condition with no pitting or damage.
The interior is in great shape all around. The Recaro sport seats are all in very good condition and were just freshly installed. The carpets and headliner are all original, and very nice with no ware or damage. All dials and controls function as they should. The heat and controls work correctly and blows warm when needed. The car has very nice period correct Craig cassette stereo set up and sounds good. Original dash, headliner, and door panels are in great original condition. Sunroof functions well and just had new felt seals installed!
The trunk is in fantastic condition and is complete with all original tools, jack, wrenches, original spare with date correct '75 dated tire mounted on rim. Car also comes with brand new spare mounted on another correct rim in cash you want to have a good spare for a road trip. Very complete and un-mollested. Even have original California plates!
Mechanically, this 2002 runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. The car just came out of a 10 year storage and was gone through, tuned up, and new tires installed! It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The 2.0L engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The car was always regularly serviced by a small BMW shop near the previous owner's home. The car does not leak a drop of anything and the suspension feels super tight and responsive. Clutch and gearbox are smooth with no grinding or issues. The disc brakes stop the car extremely well and I would drive this car anywhere! The engine compartment is original quality and has all of the correct decals and accessories present.
All in all, this is one of the cleanest and nicest 2002's on the market. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners.
