1957 BMW Isetta 300

An Isetta with a CLEAR MINNESOTA TITLE!
I bought this Isetta 300 from its second owner in 2001. He'd put it into storage in the mid-sixties after one of the drive couplings broke and damaged the transmission (a common problem). It sat in storage, partially disassembled, until I bought it.
The original engine and transmission were not repairable, but the matching-number engine block will be included if someone wants to use the engine case with the VIN number that matches the car. I found a rebuilt engine and transmission, and gathered all the pieces (engine mounts, drive couplings, shift bushings, filters, fuel petcock, etc.) required to get the car running. Using the key code from the ignition switch, I had an ignition key made.
For 5 years now this Isetta has been fully functional. It starts, idles and drives in all four forward gears up to about 40 miles per hour. Reverse gear works. The brakes and parking brake work. Everything electrical works (high / low-beam headlights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, dash light, wiper motor). The Dynastart works like new and keeps the battery charged. Speedometer and odometer work. I added a Bosch voltage regulator, as the regulator portion of the original regulator / starter relay no longer works, but the starter relay still does. All the glass is intact and in excellent condition. The very rare heater / defroster is intact and functional. I had the rims media-blasted and professionally repainted, and I installed new radial tires with inner tubes. The original German Metzler spare tire is still on the spare rim stored behind the seat.
I've put over 600 miles on it since I got it running.
The battery box is partly rusted (a common problem), so I rigged a temporary box to hold the battery. The leading edges of the front fenders and the bottoms on the inner fenders need repair, also common. Repair panels are available from Germany.
All Isetta 300's have the small sunroof / escape hatch above the passengers. This folding rear window "Cabriolet" model is a very rare and collectable BMW. It's a running survivor, ready to go on an errand, or be torn down for a full frame-off restoration.
Buyer will need to arrange transport. The Featherlite 1683 aluminum trailer pictured is perfect for transporting, and may be purchased by the buyer of the Isetta for $1350.00, if interested.
Buyer will have 3 weeks after auction to pick up the car. I'll be unavailable for pick-up from August 14 through the 21st.
Please study the pictures carefully and read the description prior to sending questions. Thanks for looking!!!
