Description:

1990 BMW 7-Series 750IL

1990 BMW 750iL for sale, $1200, V12, clean title, runs. No collision or damage history, 2nd owner since new, bought it with just 12,000 miles on it, mileage now =130,471, registration expired 12/2014, now on non-op DMV registration status. No rust anywhere except for a very small quarter size spot on sunroof. The headliner is starting to sag above rear seats. Gas tank access cover has broken off. Sunroof switch overhead panel has come loose. All electric seats/seat heaters function properly. Newer Battery. Rims have peeling chrome and some corrosion. Needs tires soon.

This would be an excellent parts car for anyone who already owns a 1990 750iL, and may need any parts in the future to keep their car in driving condition. Can you imagine the difficulty and cost of sourcing another complete V12 engine, transmission or electric seats from a junkyard? Suspension, steering, electronic control boxes are all present and in working condition. Window glass reusable, as well as all body panels, doors, etc.

For a relatively small investment, a current 750iL owner could hedge his bet and acquire this parts car, and would be $ ahead from the first part utilized. Even more $$ ahead on all future repairs needed. Get in an accident and ruin a fender? Not a problem, you have got them for the body shop to install and get your vehicle back on the road faster as a result.

This vehicle is sold " as is" there is nothing more offered than what you see. I have the pink slip.

Local delivery arrangements can be made on a separate "cash only" basis. Car is located in Hollister, CA

This car blue books on Edmonds.com in good condition for more than $1800 for a private sale. Asking price is $1200 or best offer.

I have received a couple of questions about the condition of the car and whether it will pass the smog test and reprint my responses to these questions for everyone's benefit.

Question: Does non-op mean it does not run?

Answer:

What I mean is that the car is on non-operational status with the DMV. The car runs, however, the new battery I put in it after it was parked has lost it's charge. So, after the battery is charged (or replaced), and maybe the gas tank drained and refilled, it will likely run again. The car has sat for a year or more, so it may need to be tuned up, and plugs changed, before it will be drivable again, and I have no idea whether more work will have to be done to pass smog. Never failed a smog test, just don't know if sitting without driving it for past year or more will affect smog test. Selling it on non-op status as a parts car so I don't have to go through whatever is required to pass smog.

Question: Will it pass smog?

Answer:

At this point because it has sat idle for the last year or so, I don't know... I would suggest, start with charging the battery and possibly having it tuned or at least checked before the smog. I put a new battery in it after it was parked for a time, but the battery has lost it's charge. I made no attempt to smog the car after it was parked, and have no knowledge of any specific problem passing smog. I just did not want to make the effort to try to smog it, and as such am selling it as a parts car. It always passed smog before, when I was driving it for over 100,000 miles. It will likely pass smog again, after a little maintenance by the next owner.
