Description:

1962 Austin Healey Sprite

A perfect winter project! 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite Mark II. 35,127 miles on the odometer. This car has had three owners (all women), and the current owner has owned it since the early 1980s. It has been garage kept nearly all of that time. It was purchased new in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and has never left eastern Pennsylvania. It is in need of repair and some restoration. When restored, these cars sell in the $15,000 to $18,000 range.
ExteriorThe car is remarkably rust free. The paint is in good shape. It may have been repainted in the distant past. The convertible top is stored in the trunk, but has not seen the light of day for many years. The current owner never drove the car in the rain or during the winter.
MechanicalThe car needs either a brake master cylinder or clutch slave cylinder or both. They both operate out of the same fluid reservoir. The clutch and throw-out bearing are new. Since the car has been parked for several years, the brake cylinders would need to be replaced or rebuilt. The exhaust pipe and resonator are fairly new.
InteriorThe interior is all original. The seats show considerable wear and, while serviceable, would benefit from a renewal.
DrivetrainThe drivetrain is the original 1098cc 4-cylinder engine with dual Weber carburetors and has a 4-speed manual transmission.
DriveabilityThe car was started and run regularly for many years. As of the past year, the engine turned over but would not start. Currently, there appears to be a problem with the starter knob. The car needs to be towed to its new home. The car is located in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
TitleThe car has a clean and clear title and is titled as a Pennsylvania classic vehicle.
OtherThe car comes with the original owners manual and a shop manual.
PhotographsThe outdoor photographs were taken in 2004. The indoor photographs were taken in December 2023.
NOTE: The car is sold as is without a warranty. Please look at the photographs and ask any questions.

The car has the original 948 CC engine with twin HS2 carburetors, not the 1098 CC engine listed in the description. Ebay will not allow me to edit the original description.
