Description:
1965 Austin Healey 3000
This 1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 will be sold as a parts car. I have a receipt where I purchased it out of a junkyard. I will also provide a bill of sale. I do not have a title. Here is the story: I researched the VIN through Steve Byers. He keeps information on as many BJ8s as possible through the BJ8 Registry. He sent me this information that he retrieved through the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. I have a copy of that information, which will go with the car. The car came factory with the exterior color of ivory white, black leather interior with black top. Build date between 7 and 9 of July 1965. The car was sent from factory to Dusseldorf, Germany, to represent Austin Healey at the Frankfurt Auto Show. It was dispatched July 21, 1965. It also came factory with the steering wheel lock and octagon wheel nuts, adjustable steering column, heater, speedometer in kilometers, and leather. The octagon wheel nuts were a German requirement. The under-dash steering wheel lock was also a European option. Here is the history on the car as I know it: I believe the car made its way from Germany to California, as I found a black plate California tag with the car. It then ended up in Columbus, Ohio, in wrecked condition at a place called Oasis Motors. Abies Auto Parts purchased it from Oasis Motors and fixed it up and drove it for a short time. It was then wrecked again in '71 or'72 and put in the junkyard by the gentleman from whom I purchased it. It has been sitting outside for approximately 45 years. The grill was installed after the first wreck, and I am told that it is from an earlier 3000 Mark I. Both doors still retain the glass, and it appears to be in good shape. The rear wheels are actually GM that are mounted with adapter plates to the axle.
The car does retain both body numbers under the hood. The VIN is HBJ8L/32517. The body plate number is 3208BJ877177. I believe Jensen Motors was responsible for the body plate number installation. The transmission number is 7012. The motor is missing its number plate. All of this information can be authenticated with Steve Byers at the BJ8 Registry. He told me he would be glad to verify the information that he sent to me. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me.
I will not ship. If shipping is required, it will be the sold responsibility of the successful bidder. Two forms of payment will be accepted: cash at pick-up, or a certified bank check. The bank check will have to clear before I will release the car. My bank typically puts a 7-business-day hold on certified checks. I can assist with loading at my location, and I do have a tractor on the premises to help the successful bidder. Thanks for looking. Good luck, and happy bidding.
