1965 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8

1965 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8
Meticulously Maintained by Same Owner the Past 30 Years!

This Austin Healey 3000 is a well-developed example that has had proper care and improvements throughout its life. It comes complete with a two plus inch thick loose-leaf binder that has documents of all the parts and work put into the car through its current ownership of the last 30 years. Normally this level of documentation is reserved for a high level Mercedes or Porsche. The documentation attests to the owner’s fastidious attention to detail and maintaining proper service and function. The current owner asked us to sell the car because we are very familiar with it as our shop has performed some of the work in the past.
We have just completed an inspection and service, which included fitting five new 165 Michelin XZX tires to the chrome wire wheels. The ones replaced had little wear but were more than eight years old and the owner has been caretaker for the car for thirty years and has maintained it regardless of cost. He restored this Austin Healey to near show quality but wanted to be able to use the Healey as a reliable driver in the USA, Europe and Australia. This car has an exceptionally straight body and chassis. Never has it had any severe accident or rust. Extreme care was always taken when jacking to avoid in chassis dents. The all-important chassis rails are perfectly straight and the bodywork and paint are very well done. The door gaps, which are hard to correct when lost are excellent on this car. Overall paintwork and bodywork is very nice and appear as a fresh a new restoration despite being ten years old. There are virtually no chips or flaws in the paint, which will attest to the high quality of the workmanship.
Mechanicals are as original but completely rebuilt with fully balanced engine, and a Smitty 5 speed transmission conversion installed that is undetectable from the topside of the car. The rebuilt original four speed and overdrive can be included with the car if desired. Other improvements are separate fuses for the lighting and accessory circuits, an alternator conversion for better constant power supply and wood steering wheel for looks and comfort.
The wood dash was replaced with proper burled walnut, the tan interior, top, and top boot are great compliment to the red exterior. The trunk has been finished in the original specification Hardura material and is very tidy. The car has done thousands of trouble free miles all over the world and is one of the best cared for and sorted example you can find. The car starts and runs smoothly, the power assisted disc brakes are excellent and stop without any issues. The close ratio Toyota Supra 5 speed makes it easy to drive, is very quiet and generates much less heat that the original gearbox. This car is very comfortable to do long distances in short periods. It is as well sorted a Healey as any available and should provide the new owner years of enjoyment. This car is fairly priced for the quality and model.
