1969 AMC AMX

With big power, four-on-the-floor, a super-sleek style, and absolute rarity, this 1969 AMC AMX is the kind of classic muscle machine that will always have distinction and desirability.
Those initial few years when the AMX was its smaller wheelbase was truly magical. They created an American grand touring coupe with a long hood and an elegant fastback style. And this also shows off one of the most thoughtful designs from Dick Teague. Crisp fender lines, a flying buttress rear, and chrome bumpers that are integrated into the overall design - this is a very elegant car. In fact, the Copper Metallic paint seems to really enhance the sophistication while also showing off the straight and complete sheetmetal. But this elegance also has an immediate sense of speed. The sports car chin spoiler, double power bulges in the hood, dual racing stripes, flared fenders, and iconic Cragar Eliminator wheels make this a classic that instantly announces it's a muscle machine.
As an original AMX, there's only seating for two people, but they get plenty of space and comfort. In fact, these have high-back bucket seats borrowed from a later model car. So you get terrific bolstering and even a driver's fold-down armrest. There are very vintage features, like the factory door panels with wood-like trim and classic AMC dash. Even the factory A/C controls are still in place (it will need components and serving to return the function.) There's an old-school AM/FM/cassette stereo that continues the vintage vibe. But what you'll really like is how this has been upgraded to better speak to the driver. That means a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel, Hurst T-handle shifter, and upgraded gauge package with auxiliary readout trio and handy column-mounted AutoMeter tach.
When you pop the hood, you see AMC's big 390 cubic-inch V8. This was the largest displacement to go in the AMX, and so it's great to see this one correctly upgraded here. And since they were in the mood for upgrading, they also gave it go-fast goodies like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Offenhauser intake, and a set of long tube headers feeding the rumbling dual exhaust. They even have nice supporting components, like the Accel distributor, ribbed Edelbrock valve covers, and a large aluminum radiator. It all makes for a big motor that's also a strong runner. Best of all, you get full control over this V8 and its powerful soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. And while this is a great muscle car, you'll also enjoy nice anytime driving features such as the power steering, power brakes, front discs, and wide Cooper Cobra tires.
AMC only produced around 8,300 AMXs in 1969, and how many do you think survived to look this good? When something so unique and powerful is up for grabs, you know you need to hurry on this deal. Call today!!!
