1968 AMC AMX

I purchased this AMX in 2012 from the owner who had the car since 1977. I have a copy of that title showing the info/dates/mileage, 77234 This car was built during the last week of Jan 1968. It's a very early car with glove box plaque #215 and a blue door tag. Formerly known as Damien because the VIN ends in 666 now recognized as Tunnel Ram Sam. Body # R014500 Seq E060058 Caravelle Blue with black interior. Options added were power steering and A/C. Manual drum brakes:).......I've owned 2 AMX's one 1970 and this 1968. I sold the 70 back in the 00's I have considered this sale for around a year now, as it just sits. I'm going to switch from short small and fast to big, long and slow. It now has 83466 miles on it. That is 6232 miles in 9 years. I have done a lot to this car in the first 2 years when I bought it. I might forget things that are new and or spare parts and will update the ad as I remember. Engine is fully rebuilt by me other then machine shop work. It is the original 343 which I stroked to make it a 369! I had the bore done to .040 to get it @ 368 and change to round up to 369. Was on original bore, went to .040 for the numbers only, no damage. It has a 1970 (one year only) 360 crank (flat Flange) to complete the stroke. Crank is 10/10 and was radius-ed edged. I have the original 343 crankshaft. Compression is 9.6:1. It has a Melling MTA1 Camshaft. Offenhauser OPEN PLENUM and 4" spacers with 2 Holley 600's. I have the original Carb. The heads are rebuilt with hardened exhaust seats and new valves, springs and roller tip rockers. These are from a 1969 390 and have 50.6cc chambers. Comes with the original heads (558 Rectangle Port) and a set of Dog leg heads. A spare timing cover, distributor, and the original A/C compressor. It is running some older headers I got from an AMC drag car gentleman in South Jersey along with a 10" converter and a spare M12 Transmission. It has the original M11b in it now which was gone through by me. Spare M12 is included I sent the converter to Hughes and they rebuilt it.(3-3.5k stall) Yes, it builds heat and I have 3 tranny coolers in series. It has a new high torque mini starter installed within this past year, along with a new distributor (kept cam/distributor gear the same) and new alternator in Aug. No Rambler glow:). It has a fully rebuilt Hotchkiss twin grip 12 bolt with 4:56 gears. It has new rear leaf springs with 2" lift built into the spring and air shocks/shackles.Trunions are tight as new.It has modern saab seats with butt fans:) and I do have to original black ones. Cragers front and rear (15x10). Front tires (14") are old and cracking and rears should be replaced as well. Comes with another fresh set of Hoosiers for the rear. I never had this car at the strip. Just blast around town light to light.The windshield wipers are not connected to power. A/C compressor and condenserare not installed, compressor is included.Car looks better in these pictures then in person!!!!! Pics are as of 9/30/2020. There is some bubbling below the rear glass corner and some cracking on the inside of the right sail panel. Clear coat is crazed in the top of the sail panels where the blue is. This is not a $35-40k (example on ebay) car for 15500. The paint is a 5 footer!!!! Pls understand and know what that means. There appears to be a repair to the dash pad from previous owner. Looks great and professional. Also has a new headliner.There is bondo in the lower rear quater panels Only the lowers. Frame Still has original paint and undercoating on it. The frame is in incredibly great shape.The Grill is mint no repairs!Could use carpet and door weather striping.Comes with Motortrend Car Cover:)
