1970 AMC Rebel Station Wagon

This 1970 AMC Rebel Station Wagon is such a rare and distinct sight these days that it's especially nice to find one that's the right mix of preservation and correct restoration. So look over everything from the V8 power to the A/C interior, and you'll see a grocery-getter that feels like a true time capsule.

Wagons are large in size, but this one can't help but attract even more attention. The factory-correct Hialeah Yellow is a vibrant color, and it was resprayed later in life to continue to give it a nice presentation. Plus, the body panels are exceptionally straight. That way you can see the well-creased muscle car-like front end, form-fitting chrome bumpers, and the full side trim that appears like an almost unbroken line. There's also just a nice rarity with AMC products. After all, a 1970 Chevelle wagon is considered a rare sight these days, and Chevy produced well over two and a half times more of those than AMC made Rebel wagons. So individuality is assured almost everywhere you go.

Inside is a highly original presentation with a sea of green that's as lively as the exterior color. The carpeting, door panels, headliner, and sun visors are all quite nice. And while the texture on the front seat isn't perfect, we're quite glad to see it still there because that intricate design can only be original once. There's plenty of room for six across the two wide benches, and the cargo area has space for all the gear. So if you're the type of person who likes to go to destinations in your classics (including spending all day at the car show,) you can instantly see the appeal of this wagon. Even the front is a well-done vintage driver's setup. The dual-spoke steering wheel gives you a clear view to the log speedometer and the remarkably clean instruments. Everything you want is working - from the cool vertical-style AM radio to the cold-blowing factory air conditioning. In fact, the only addition we can spot is the auxiliary gauge trio. And it's cleanly mounted in a wood-like trim to look like a true 1970s piece.

On a car like this, it's particularly nice to have such an authentic presentation under the hood. The 304 cubic-inch V8 was unique to AMC/Jeep, and the bright blue block will certainly turn some heads. The motor starts easily, idles smoothly, and makes a nice tune out of the newer dual exhaust. Adding to this great cruising classic attitude are features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and wide BF Goodrich T/As on classic American Motors wheels.

A well-preserved wagon is hard to find. So when one looks this good, offers this much distinction, and is priced so right, you know you need to hurry to take it home. Call today!!!
