Description:
1977 AMC Pacer X
This is a rare 1977 Pacer X survivor. I bought it from a Classic Car Museum in Maine that had it for a while. It had 68,000 miles when I bought the car, and now has around 86,000. It took me 3 years to find an X because I wanted the bucket seats, race steering wheel, X wheels, and decal package. If you've looked for a Pacer long, you know they are hard to find in this good of shape, but almost impossible to find a X model.I have invested well over $2,000 in the car. I had the 258 rebuilt, new electronic control module, new starter, new distributor wires, new tires, new belts, new accelerator cable, brakes, lift supports, exhaust, andmany other things. I do have a notebook with all the repair receipts and records. I have an owner's manual as well.
The interior is perfect - no rips, stains or tears that I can see, although some of the plastic trim pieces in the back has faded with the sun, but all Pacers do this and can be painted back over with the right paint. There's a small chip in the windshield that's led to a bigger crack. So that could use replacement. All other windows are great.
The car looks really good for a survivor, but there is a dent in the driver and passenger doors, some minor rust in a fewspots, and the car needs new front floor pans.
Engine is solid but needs the typical startup time like most old cars.
If you are interested in the car and would like the VIN, please contact me. I'm a little nervous about just putting the VIN on the ad for everyone to see because you never know what some people will do. Hope you understand.
If you have other questions, please contact me before you bid. Do not bid unless you are going to buy the car. I won't make any reductions or deals afterwards! There's no refunds and car is being sold "as is." I have described everything the best I can, but please ask questions if I haven't addressed it.
Pacers are a rare breed and they are tremendously fun to drive. They are very underrated and don't get the credit they deserve. The rack and pinion steering and wide low stance makes this car smoother than any other car I've ever drove. This gets a lot of smiles and thumbs up. You will be the talk of the car shows I assure you. It's fun being a part of the AMC family. So as Farris Bueller said, "if you have the means, I highly recommend this car. It's so choice."
