1991 Alfa Romeo 164 Lusso. Gorgeous, fast and rare. White exterior with Butterscotch leather interior. Garaged for most of its life and well maintained by two previous owners, this 4 owner car is a mostly original survivor and a real head turner. This Alfa Romeo has 116,772 miles. It has a valid “RECONSTRUCTED” Massachusetts title.

History – The previous owner of this car was an officer in an Alfa Romeo organization, and maintained this car to the point of obsession. Old original replaced parts were archived, along with a massive collection of new parts, replacement electronics and unopened Alfa Romeo bits. Included are spare grilles and trim pieces, the original springs, the original stereo, and numerous other items in two large tubs and three boxes. I have added to that the original Carello headlights, which were replaced by the Eurospec Bosch projector lights, and the original factory wheels and tires. The previous owner’s obsession was inherited from his father, the second owner of the vehicle. His father purchased the car after it was involved in an accident in the front right. The damage did not impact the frame, and he was able to reconstruct the vehicle.

External – The Pininfarina styled body is in excellent condition, showing only very mild wear. There are no visible dents or major flaws in the body, and very few minor scratches. The top of the doors do show some aggressive polishing that has impacted the clear coat, but as the car is white it is mostly unnoticeable. All lines are straight, and all panels are original with no filler. There is no rust or rot on the car, and is has the original numbers matching power train. The front was updated with Bosch Eurospec Projector Headlights and fillers, and wheels are O.Z. Ultraleggera 16X7 rims and Dunlop Direzza tires. In addition to the front fender “Biscione” emblems, the car has 30% (MA Legal) window tinting.

Interior – The Italian leather seats are butterscotch in color and are original, with the Alfa Romeo logo embossed into each headrest. The front seats are in excellent condition and could do with cleaning, the back seats are virtually unused. Floors, carpets, overlays and dashboards and all perfect. Rear shades are in excellent shape. The original stereo was replaced with a system by Alpine. All windows work and all functions of the driver’s seat work, including heat. Other power options like cruise control work perfectly. No warning lights appear on dash. Heat works perfectly and air conditioning is ice cold.

Mechanical – This car has been consistently reliable and has never left me stranded. It does have a few needs, such as a small leak somewhere in the power steering system that requires you to check it every few months. The air conditioning belt could be tighter, as there is a squeal for a few seconds that disappears quickly if the A/C is on. Other than that, the car is excellent.
