1973 Alfa Roneo Veloce
1973 Alfa Romeo Spider
1973 Alfa Romeo Spyder Veloce
I purchased the Alfa Romeo about 9 months ago. Unfortunately due to the COID-19 pandemic I'm reluctantly forced to sell the car. The Alfa is offered with a clearCaliforniatitle.
The Alfa was originally purchased inArizonain 1973 and has a full binder of documentation and history dating back to the 70s.
Mechanical:Power is from a strong 2.0L twin-cam inline-four mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The engine had the problematic SPICA fuel injection removed and original Italian made dual Weber side-draft carburetors were retrofitted with K&N air cleaners. The new stainless steel exhaust headers and pipes give the Alfa a raspy Italian exhaust sound. When the Weber carburetors were installed the head was refreshed with new valves and guides. Cooing is excellent with the upgraded high flow aluminum radiator.
Prior to this sale I had a professional Alfa mechanic check out the car and tune the engine, refreshthe dual Weber carburetors, change the oil and transmission fluid. All the instrumentation as well as all the lighting, the electronics, signals, etc are in working condition however the speedometer reads about 10% slow, I found that out by receiving a speeding ticket.I installed a new battery insofar as the old battery was getting tired. The headlights have been upgraded to halogen which are much brighter with better visibility and the clear headlight covers have been recently installed which look great.
Suspension:The suspension has been lowered a wee bit with a higher spring rate to reduce body roll and for better overall handling.
Interior:The original bucket seats have been recently recovered along with the new door panels and black logo carpets. The windshield is new and all the glass is in excellent condition.
Exterior:The car is painted in correct "Alfa Red" with original stainless steel bumpers and trim. The Alfa was repainted sometime ago and the paint still shows the brilliant ALFA RACING RED.The paint does have some minor checking but you have to look closely to find it. The newer black convertible top looks good with a clear rear window, I only used the top once when I got caught in a sudden rain storm and the top fits and sealed well with no leaks. The underside of the car as been treated with a complete undercoating. there are no signs of rust. The black wall tires are in good condition with plenty of tread and are mounted on optional OEM Alfa Romeo four spoke star wheels
Conclusion:The speedometer shows *37,100 miles which has turned over. I've driven it almost daily (because it's so fun to drive) for over 3000 miles since I've owned it. The speedometer reads about 10% slow, I found that out by receiving a speeding ticket.and it's been absolutely reliable and has never failed it's just a great good looking driver.
The bad news:…The dashboard has a crack however I have purchased a dash cover which is not installed but is included in the sale.…The second synchromesh gear is weak and sometime in the future should be repaired. The cost of that repair has been taken in consideration in the ourchase price. In the higher RPMs I've been double clutching the downshifts with no problem.
I have stated the above as honestly and to the best of my knowledge. If you have any questions you can contact me at (925)200-4556.
