1973 Alfa Romeo GTV --

This 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 has beenextensively modified for SCCA, ICSCC, IRDC or SOVREN vintage racing competition. It is on offer byits owner of over ten years, and the car’s racing history goes back to the 1980s with Wes Ingram (aka ‘Mr. SPICA’) campaigningthe car extensively himself. Within the last six months, over $12,000 was invested at Group 2 Motorsports to get the car track-ready. In addition,Mr. Ingram just rebuilt the engine, transmission and other components personally as detailed below. The car is now ready to be broken in properly byits new owner and can continue being used on the track or converted back toroad specas desired. It is sold with a clean Washington title. This GTV retains its longstanding livery from when it was racedsuccessfully throughout the West Coast in the 1980s and 1990s. Gold Panasport-style wheelslend a cool look andthe body condition is described asvery good and free of any serious rust; only normal surface ‘browning’ which does not need to be addressed at this time. The paint ispresentable with track use and age-related wear.Inside, the driver is held in place by a brand newOMP TRS-E racing seat. It is noted that the current Schroth harness will need to be updated, as this car’s last official races were in the mid-2000’s.

The entire interior has been stripped with a full roll bar fitted, as well as the required safety net and fire extinguisher. Additional gauges have been added on top of the dashboard, and a thick aftermarket steering wheel has been fitted.

This GTVruns its original 2.0L eight-valvetwin-cam Alfa Nord engine. Included with the sale are service records detailingan extensive $12,000+ mechanical overhaul performed six months ago by Group 2 Motorsports to get the car track-ready. This work includedrebuilding all of the brakes (including the brake calipers), a new brake master cylinder, a new clutch master cylinder and new slave cylinder, new brake lines, clutch lines, new electronic ignition components, plugs, wires, oil filter and cooler lines, brand new fuel cell bladder and pumps, filters, and new fuel lines.

Additionally, Wes Ingram rebuilt the engine and transmission; this included fully addressing the SPICA fuel injection system, new bearings, liner restoration, andwhat the seller claims as “pretty much everything that he saw fit and as needed for a proper rebuild from top to bottom on one of these engines”.

The five-speed transmission was fully rebuilt by Wes Ingram at the same time. This included addressing the synchro's, gear sets, a new clutch kit and resurfaced flywheel. It is noted that the rebuilds on both the engine and transmission are still brand-new, so the next owner will need to followa proper break-in procedure.

This car runs a Ward & Deane rear panhard suspension setup whichWes Ingram installed back when he raced the car, along with adjustable anti-roll barsandacoil-over front setup withthe stock spring. The rear suspension retains the separate shock and spring setup, albeit upgraded to the specifications as Wes Ingram originally raced the car.

With a freshengine/transmission rebuild and extensive recent mechanical work, this GTV should provide an affordable entry into one of the most excitingclasses in vintage racing.
