1953 Willys Military Jeep M38-A1

Offered for sale is my nicely restored 1953 Willys M38-A1 Army military jeep. The elderly man who previously owned this jeep did the restoration slowly, but surely, over time. One would be hard pressed to find a jeep in such original, yet rebuilt, condition. He purchased this jeep in rust-free condition and restored it into one that will last for generations to come.
This jeep has been completely gone through and rebuilt, paying particular attention to mechanical detail, using the original or NOS parts as available. The restoration of this jeep was thoroughly done, yet not overly done. The jeep is solid and free of rust, yet still has some patina that comes with age. I have the original owner's receipt of purchase from the military vehicle dealer and a lot of receipts for parts and the work done during the years he spent restoring this jeep. I also have manuals, diagrams, and other items, which I can pass on to the new owner.
There are a few unique features regarding this jeep. The elderly man who restored the jeep had hip issues and found it difficult to reach the foot starter. He came up with a ingenious solution by using a vintage military trailer handle as a hand lever to depress the foot starter pedal. The handle doesn't interfere with the shifters and can easily be removed if preferred, leaving no sign of it behind, as the foot starter is still being used. This jeep has the shovel mounted under the hood, 24 volt shortwave radio, 24 volt power supply, speaker, microphone, and antennae. I have canvas covers for both the radio gear and all of the removable antennae mast sections. The original VIN and features of this jeep identify it as being produced between October and December,1953. This jeep is the real deal, built with heavy duty military running gear.
I have put a few hundred miles on this jeep post restoration and I have kept it well maintained. The jeep runs great, stops fine, and the gauges and lights work as they should.
This Willys M38-A1 is ready to be driven and enjoyed for generations to come... be it for show, or just for fun.
Speedometer shows 22587 miles, actual unknown. Jeep is being sold as is, since it is over 60 years old. The original VIN listed is accurate. The title is clear and the California registration tags are valid until August 2018.
Please feel free to ask questions and/or ask to see this Willys M38-A1 military jeep in person before buying. You will not be disappointed.
