1966 Volvo 122 S Amazon Sports Coupe 2 door, speed stick for sale - “Vinny” Here’s a bit of history. My wife and I went our separate ways (amicable divorce) about two years ago. Each of us moved into our own apartments. I’m an audiophile . . . an indoor pursuit . . . I needed an outdoor hobby to keep busy. Years ago I restored a few Corvettes, et that went the way of things that get set aside when kids arrive and become your priority. Since I’d already worked with the plastic fantastic, t was time for something really basic which brings me to “Vinny”. I got Vinny from a broker who bought him from a couple in Florida. Since then I’ve either done some work myself, r outsourced repairs to an independent Volvo shop. My apartment includes a garage or should I say did include a garage. It looks like I’m losing the use of it . . . so Vinny needs a new home. Here are as the details: Original 83,250 miles (odometer still working) with a restoration that is almost complete. What does that mean? In this case “restoration” means a great driver’s car you will be proud to drive to a car meet. Notice I said “Car Meet” NOT “Car Show”. In my experience, ar Shows typically feature full body-off-frame restoration cars and/or original untouched “Survivor Cars”. Vinny is in the middle . . . he could either be restored to original show condition or simply enjoyed as a weekend driver which is/was my goal. The reason for this is that the chassis and underside is clean of rust, he frame is rust-free whereas often you see rust laden frames. Also, he body is really nice with a repaint which is not outstanding but quite good in the original color (Light Blue). There are a few smaller rust spots, he most notable of which are a bubble on each fender and around the antenna mounting hole. There is no rust in the floor panels and only surface rust in the spare tire wheel well. None appear to require panel replacement, ust appropriate body work. If you’ve done patching before, ou can probably do these. The chrome bumpers have two appearance issues requiring attention; first - the right front bumper piece either needs replacing or re-chroming, econd - the rear center piece has what looks like a haze on about 75% of it. Don’t know exactly what this is but it seems to be coming out with polishing. So this piece is a work in progress and may be finished by the time you take Vinny home. There is a minor dent on the top of the driver’s side fender which doesn’t show up in the pictures. Also the passenger door chrome strip has a noticeable dent which is fixable. This is a VERY VERY SOLID CAR. The rear seat is in excellent condition, et the front seats should be re-stitched as the material (original) is fine but the thread suffers from age. There are two smaller seat side panels that should be replaced and stitched in. They’re plain black vinyl . . . easy to locate, olvo material not needed. Original B 18 motor and 4 speed manual transmission. The car has a clear Connecticut title. VIN # 160800 The Mechanics: I’ve done a bit of this myself, ut most were done by the folks at the Volvo shop: ∙ Radiator has been refurbished. ∙ Has a new master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder. ∙ New Brakes. ∙ New Clutch. ∙ New U - Joints ∙ New rebuilt Drive Shaft ∙ New Pertronix Electronic Ignition ∙ New Spark Plugs & Wires ∙ New Engine Mounts, uspension Components ∙ New Nanking 165 80RT5 Tires from Firestone (less than 150 miles) ∙ New Spare Tire ∙ New Fuel Pump & Filter ∙ New Thermostat ∙ New KYB Shocks ∙ New Horns plus Horn Relay added, orn Ring on steering wheel repaired ∙ New Windshield Wipers ∙ New High/Low Headlamp Switch ∙ New Headlamp and Turn Signal Lamp gaskets ∙ New trunk gasket ∙ SU Carburetors rebuilt ∙ Seat Webbing redone I’ve probably forgotten a few things because I’m 110 years old. The restoration continues (weather depending) until the car is sold or we’re yanked from the garage. Speaking of which, inny has been garaged by me and I think the previous owner as well given the condition of the chassis. If and when you grow tired of Vinny, would appreciate first right of refusal to re-purchase him. Thank you for looking!
