Description:

1984 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon BUS

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Here's a Euro Style build you don't see here in the US. It's an 84 VW tin top with heavy duty hardware, built-in solar and 110v outlets. It's been converted for camping and adventure, complete with a bike rack. I've added aftermarket parts from Rocky Mountain Westy and a GMB Mounting system imported from Germany. The stock 1.9l engine and clutch were apparently replaced over 85k miles ago per the prior owner and it runs solid and reliable. The interior was done in gray, which compliments the new flooring. The engine drips oil a few times after driving it then stops, which is common with VW's. It doesn't smoke at idle or while driving. It passed smog on 9/30/19 so that should give you a piece of mind. It's Turn Key and ready to roll out. Pink Slip in hand and no lien holds. I encourage you to contact me first via email or phone with any questions before committing to this purchase. I have done my best to describe the vehicle and highlighted some key issues below. It's not a body-off frame restoration. I can certainly send you more photos, or do a video walk around and start up if you are a serious buyer. CONTACT INFO: EMAIL OR TEXT 209-2 zero 1 three 8 nine 0~ Ed DISCLAIMER: You should inspect the vehicle in person or have a third party mechanic inspect it before making a final decision to buy it. I have done my best to point out the good and bad, but I am human and may have forgotten to list a positive or negative. That's why it's important you contact me with any questions. There are no warranties, returns or guarantees, written, expressed or implied. The vehicle is SOLD AS IS and it is the buyer's responsibility to cover the cost of transport, shipping, tax, license transfers, DMV fees, title, documentation fee, SMOG test, repairs, maintenance, etc. after purchasing the vehicle for the agreed amount. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of the sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repair regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. I will accept cash in hand, money order or cashier's check that must clear before taking possession of the vehicle. A 500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of purchasing the vehicle, and the remaining balance within 7 days. Contact me for payment arrangement. FOR SALE LOCALLY OR WITHN USA. I reserve the right to end this posting early. I hope you appreciate all the custom work that went into this incredible build. ~ EdEXTERIOR: - Gray in color; roof recently repainted due to fading. - Rust removed from rear panel, behind the right rear bumper. I had the other windows tinted to match the front. - 15" black steel wheels; center holes were custom made to fit all four sides and spare.- New BF Goodrich TA KO2 235/75R15, All terrain tires and spare.- Stainless steel tire rack, mounted on top of vehicle, powder coated in black. Map and dome have red and white light options for stealth mode.- Twin gauge POD on dash, wired in from the motor.- Alpine CD in-dash, detachable stereo, bluetooth compatible. - JL Audio door speakers, rear speakers on custom roof compartment and JL Audio 10" woofer in compartment.- Anti-theft Security System.FRAME:This build is not considered an off-frame restoration. The undercarriage, shocks, struts and drum brakes appear to be original. There's surface rust on the undercarriage and some black high heated paint was used on the undercarriage and drum brakes for cosmetic reasons. Not to purposely hide any surface rust. One should expect surface rust on a vehicle that's over 30 years old unless its an off-frame restoration project. The frame is solid with no rust holes or spots that would compromise the integrity of the frame or vehicle. THINGS THAT NEED ATTENTION:- There's a slow oil drip after driving and parking the vehicle. It will typically drip 2-5 times after you park it. VW's are notorious for oil leaks. My mechanic power-washed the motor and could not locate the leak without having to inspect the heads. Sorry, I didn't option for that.- The motor frame rattles a bit when its fully warmed up. I was told that motor mounts need to be tightened down.- The ignition switch is temperamental at time when turning the key.- The VDO volt meter (battery) is not connected and located to the left of the twin gauges (Oil and Water) that do work. - The horn flickers on from time to time. It started after the aftermarket LED headlights were installed.- The windshield wipers work, but they were disconnected because I only drove the vehicle in the Spring and Fall seasons. No A/C or Power Steering. - The odometer doesn't work. - The driver's side trucker mirror has a hairline crack. - The driver's side seatbelt latches, but you need to press hard to release it. - The roof interior install did not come out flush. The first two panel from the rear were flush, but as I worked my way to the front, I realized the roof became narrower.- It has a stock motor, so don't expect to lead the pack. Many van owners option to swap out the motor for a Subaru conversion engine.
