1978 Volkswagen TYPE 2 TRANSPORTER BUS

1978 VOLKSWAGEN TYPE 2 TRANSPORTER BUS: --Agate Brown with Dakota Beige roof and accents, Canyon Brown leatherette interior, 2.0 liter flat 4-cylinder air-cooled engine, 4-Speed manual transmission, 7-seater, Restored, Air-conditioning. The Volkswagen Bus has been a cultural icon for decades in the automotive world. First produced in 1950 known as the Microbus with a vast number of windows, this VW was a common transport vehicle throughout the world in various forms (van-pickup, camper-van, panel-van, etc.). Part of the “VW Bus” charm was when it became known as the “Hippie Bus” during the spiritual and cultural movement in the late 1960s United States. The second-generation Type 2 debuted in 1967 and still held most of its classic design, unlike the generation 3s which debuted in 1979. The last of these second-generation Type 2s were the fastest of the model utilizing VW’s 2.0 liter flat 4-cylinder air-cooled engine. This second-generation Type 2 is a very well-sorted and restored example. Condition is excellent throughout and all systems working as intended. An aftermarket radio system has been installed and provides ample acoustics. Air conditioning is built into the cabin’s ceiling with vents for the front and rear seats. There is also clear shield paint protection film fitted to the front of the Bus. The Type 2 was meant to be a simple way of transporting 7 people, not just for utilitarian needs, but also in style. Painted in original livery late-1970s colors, this Type 2 Transporter is a collectible as it is usable.
