1986 Volkswagen Cabrio

I have a 1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet Convertible, 86,118 miles. I purchased it 2 months ago at a local auction. It has not been driven since 2010 and has been in storage. Engine and drive train work fine, but has some issues with the right front wheel. The previous owner had some right front wheel issues and took it to a local garage for an estimate on 12/6/2010, and decided not to do the repairs and took it home and parked it in their barn until I just bought it. I have my auction receipt from 2 months ago and have the garage estimate from 2010. You can see the right front wheel is off, here's what the garage said and estimate in 2010."Evaluate: right front tire is turned outward. Results: This vehicle has many issues. The right front axle is broke. The right front wheel bearing and hub assembly is severely damaged. The knuckle may also need to be replaced. The front struts are loose in their body tubes. The front brakes measure 3/32". Minimum specifications is 2/32". The front tires need replaced. The right tire is showing cords. Additional notes: The left axle boot is torn open. The left stabilizer bar retainer is broken. Once repairs are started on this vehicle, it is very likely additional components will need to be replaced. The $1770 + tires estimate will most likely increase. The customer has elected not to have the vehicle repaired. Customer understands vehicle will have to be towed."That is exactly copied from the garage report which is included with the car. I can see why the previous owner did not do the repairs, the cost was prohibitive to them at the time and they replaced the car instead of fixing. All electrical seems to work on the car, I have checked it out. There is a small hole in the convertible soft top by the rear window as shown, and the front bucket seats have some tears. Dent in the rear tail gate trunk above the bumper. Car could easily be fixed to be driven and road worthy, but probably only cost effective if you can do the work yourself. There are a lot of good parts on this car and good running engine and transmission. It will need a battery, front grill is nice as is the dash instrumentation. I was going to sell parts on Ebay, which I often do, but thought I'd give someone a chance at the car first, I always feel bad parting out a car that someone may need. Even if you have one of these cars, the additional parts could be worth a lot more than I am offering i for. Especially if you need an engine. Any questions or additional pictures please email me. Even with the wheel off, it was easy to transport, I had a wrecker move it for me and they used a dolly on the right front wheel hub. We can use a dolly on that wheel if you bring a trailer to load it on. Local pick-up and we are in Longmont, Colorado, 80503 zip code.
