Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon . Condition is Used.This was a European delivery only and only 500 or so were built. This barn find was a two year mechanical, interior and partial body restoration. The goal was to make a powerful, usable and fun camper. Originally beige grey over sealing wax red, a previous owner painted tan over red. The following was done. - entirely new 2054 cc with 44 IDFs
- completely rebuilt front Suspension
- completely rebuilt brakes and brake lines
- repaired wiring where needed
- replaced all shifter bushings
- rebuilt steering gear box
- new steering wheel
- new tires on powder coated wheels
The interior cabinets were mostly rotted at bottoms because of a leaky fiberglass water tank located under the the main sink cabinet. All cabinets except the head banger were rebuilt by a custom local cabinet builder.

- replaced original whale pump with electric faucet
- recovered all seats after powder coating all metal frames
- stuffed waterproof insulation everywhere
- all custom seat covers front to rear
- all new carpet throughout
- all new wood panels on walls and doors
- new edging on flip up door tables
- recoated ice box liner
The repaint buffed out to be shiny but lots of surface and real rust. The goal was to stop further rust and make presentable without a $30,000 show restoration. Here is what was done.
- repair rust around windows enough to replace with new rubber and have no leaks
- replace solid side windows (SO44 factory) with three jealousies from SO42
- cover central cabin floor with one piece flat sheet metal
- cut out rust along bottom of sides and doors, coat with rustproofing, bondo and paint with heavy color matched bedliner
- paint surface rust along drip rail on top
- all new window and pop top rubber
- pond out major dents in bumpers and powder coat silver
- new stainless hubcaps
- coated the underneath with various rust prevention coating but did repair floor or any braces or jack pointsThis a great running and powerful camper with all new interior. Pulled to the top of the 11,000 foot Monarch Pass in Colorado in fourth gear. This is not a show car and has plenty of underside rust. The goal was to make a fun, powerful and dependable bus with like new interior. Ready to go anywhere right now.
