You're invited to bid on a professionally-restored, "needs nothing" 1970 Karmann Ghia Coupe that is in near flawless condition. I acquired this vehicle in March, 2015 from a private party in the desert southwest, where it had been operated its entire life. Although purchased as a very nice "driver" with the intention of merely driving and enjoying it, I immediately embarked on a mechanical and cosmetic journey (similar to that of a number of other collector vehicles that I have and have had), with the goal of restoring and improving this vehicle to the condition that it represents today.
When purchased, the vehicle sported an orange and black paint scheme which, although initially attractive to me, was discarded via a bare metal prep to make way for a return to its original color - the one year only L52E Pastel Blue - which is confirmed by its Heritage Certificate shown in the PHOTOS section. In addressing the mechanicals, virtually every component and assembly has received a service, replacement/rebuild or upgrade, and any required replacement parts were sourced only from reputable vendors. The heart of the drivetrain is a BRAND NEW (not "rebuilt") 1776cc engine prepared by Darryl's Air-Cooled Engines (monitored through a host of engine gauges including a VDO tachometer, oil pressure and temperature, voltmeter, and four-bank cylinder-head temperature); and, although never installed, a period-correct OEM-type radio is included with the sale. The improved power is driven through a completely refurbished, MOFOCO-built clutch assembly/transaxle, rolling on a set of brand new (0 miles) wheels and Coker Classic wide whites. My satisfaction is found in bringing unique, older cars like this Karmann Ghia to a comfortable blend of their cosmetic originality and today's functional, dependable technology. The result is a very capable, "drive anywhere" car that is as comfortable at car shows as it is on long highway trips - (it recently completed a round trip from northern Illinois to Ft Lauderdale, FL where it spent the interim Winter, alternating between fun, dependable daily driver and car show entrant). Having met my goal, it's time to make room for, and move on to the next challenge.

The RESERVE for this car is set realistically low, at less than 50% of my overall investment (without including my personal labor), with receipts to support the work.
