1974 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

1974 Volkswagen Beetle History The Volkswagen Beetle, also known as the "Bug" is a two-door, five-passenger, rear-engine economy car that was manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003. In the 1999 Car of the Century competition, to determine the world's most influential car in the 20th century, the VW Beetle came fourth, after the Ford Model T, the Mini, and the Citroën DS. Why This Car Is Special The Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single platform ever made. The one we have for sale at Skyway Classics is fully restored. From top to bottom. If you want a like-new VW, this one is for you. Mechanical Our 1974 VW has been completely gone thru and everything replaced or restored. The 1300 cc dual-port air-cooled flat-four is claimed to be the original motor, and is mated to a 4-speed manual transaxle. This vehicle runs and drives like new and is sure to bring a smile to your face! It has all new wiring, a rebuilt engine and trans, new brakes. This car is incredibly solid and the VW runs and drives great. The engine sits in a very clean and detailed engine compartment with all the correct factory parts and looks like it did just as it drove out of the dealership back in 1974. The only change here is a sport exhaust system which makes this Beetle sound more like a Porsche than a VW. It rides on color matched VW wheels and performance tires and has a great sound coming out of the chrome dual exhaust tips. Interior The new custom silver two tone leatherette Bucket Seat interior is extra clean and has power tinted windows, AM/FM/CD player, alarm system with anti-theft protection, AM/FM/CD Radio w/ipod Hookup, modern shifter and carbon fiber modern steering wheel. Exterior Our Silver Metallic VW looks great with good body lines, great chrome and trim, and a professional repaint that makes it really stand out. Get this beauty in the sun and the metal flake lights up. As an extra nod toward safety, the 1974 Volkswagen Beetle had bumpers that were bolted to energy-absorbing mounts, and an ignition interlock prevented the engine from being started unless the seatbelts were fastened. The seat belt safety feature has been removed and replaced with a modern security system with a hidden anti-theft feature. The factory VIN plate is in place and can be seen in the photo gallery. Conclusion It is not often you can find a 1974 Volkswagen that has been restored as nice and as thorough as the Silver Metallic beauty we have here at Skyway Classics for sale, and a great price too. Come see it today. Over $25,000 was spent on the restoration, so the asking price is a fantastic deal! If you are a classic car fan and have never owned a Beetle, you owe it to your self to get behind the wheel of this one. They are great cars that are a blast to drive, get thumbs up and admiration everywhere they go, and won't break the bank at the gas pump. We also finance!
