two 1974 Volkswagen Things, RARE ACAPULCO VERSION

up for auction are two 1974 volkswagon type 181 things as a package deal.the first thing is the orange one.IT has new paint and both hard top and a soft top (soft top & side curtains are a bit dried up and brittle).runs and drive, pan under the battery needs to be repaired but holding okhas new EMPI aluminum Rims and New Tiresfresh orange paint jobthere is a tote of small parts and trim that were taken off for paint that still needs to be put back on...overall this is a great car, very collectible and going up in value.parts are plentiful and easy to find as these things share many of the same parts and components as other air cooled volkswagons...
2nd of the two cars is also a 1974 vw thing.it is a very rare and hard to find Acapulco versionit is essentially the same exact car as the orange one but has a rare original paint scheme of white and blue with a special SURREY TOP and frame, these original Acapulco versions are highly sought after many people try to create fakes or tribute car, but rest assured this is the real authentic Acapulco thing and i have verified the numbers with the vw thing registery to make sure.
this Acapulco version needs a bit of loveit is missing the striped blue and white interior coverings and Surrey cloth that it needs for a proper restoration (the interior and top are available for purchase at the thing shop.com)it also needs the floor pans and rockers replaced as they are rusty and have holesit runs very well and is super fasthas good tires on the star rims and also has the original classic style rime for authenticityit has a rare era correct wood steering wheel and trigger style shifter knobit has a fiberglass hardtop with rare and highly sought after original roof rack.
I was planning on having the body and paint restored but life has me going in another directionit has been partially disassembled for paint and body and all the parts are here in totes including door, fender, bumpers and seats...
great worthwhile investment project car and worth a ton of cash once restoredbarretts auction sold one for $50k and others for $25k
