Description:

1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia T34

This is a 1966 Type-34 Razor Edge Karmann Ghia. Matching Numbers, a pretty original and complete Car. Finished in her factory L560 Manila Yellow, with black roof over the original black interior.

A Great candidate for restoration and an opportunity for someone who appreciates the rarity of these vehicles. Type-34 Ghia's are fast becoming very collectible cars!

T34's are exceptionally rare in the U.S., because the Type 34 Karmann Ghia Coupe was never officially exported here, and only a small number were brought over by individuals. It's estimated that of the remaining 1500 to 2000 Type 34s, about 400 of them are here in the U.S.

The car has its original matching numbers body, pan, engine, trans, interior etc.

The body & pan on this car are what need the most work. There is visible corrosion on body, bubbling under the paint and evidence of bondo in areas. Most of the work needed is around the bottom 4-inches of the car, rockers, arches etc. It looks to have had one outside repaint in its factory color many years ago which is now showing its age. The interior paint is original to the car. The chrome work is fair. Bubbling and blisters on the chrome bumpers, but all trim looks good.

At some point in its life the floor pans were replaced with flat sheet metal either side of the tunnel. Although this is unfortunate, the floors are solid, just not correct for the car. I drive the car as-is, however if you want to restore the car correctly, new floor pans should be installed which are readily available from companies such as Klassic Fab, https://www.klassicfab.com/

Inside, the car has its original interior that shows fairly well but being over 51 years old is showing wear & tear in places. Mostly in the front seat base cushions that would need replacing. I have seat covers on the seat bases currently. Still very cool to have the OG interior, and it suits the overall condition of the car well. Could be restored, but I prefer it all original.

This car is very complete and has been well maintained. It has a new stainless exhausted, brakes and mechanical'shave been all gone through recently. The car fires up right away and drives down the road fine, smooth through the gears. I have many receipts of the work done to the car that will go to the new owner.

The car has all the original sekurit glass. All glass is good and original. Vent windows work fine. Door glass cranks up and down fine. Suspension and components are tight with no issues. All electrical seems good, wipers work fine, headlights, etc. I do know the fog lights and horn currently do not work.
