Description:

1984 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Adventurewagen

This is a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Adventurewagen high top camper van powered by a 1.9-liter, water-cooled four-cylinder engine that generates 83 horsepower, up from 67 hp for the previous year. The engine features a fuel-injection system called the Digi-Jet. It has a 4 speed manual transmission, if you've driven an automatic then you know a manual is the way to go in these. Its pretty much all original except the linoleum floor in the back, these came with Pergo wood flooring in the camper section but that's long gone. It's just about to hit 152,000 miles on it and it still runs and drives great. Once it warms up and you're sitting still the idle goes up a down a little but doesn't affect the way it runs when you're driving it. My Grandfather bought it in December of 2014 and put new tires on it and some other routine maintenance and has used it for around town and some small road trips. He has always had a VW of some type around for as long as I can remember but says he's just to old now to be driving this type of vehicle anymore, at least not a stick shift anyways. I tested the propane system by lighting the stove and it works perfectly. The buttons that show you the propane tank and water tank levels also work. He hasn't used the sink or fridge but the previous owner said they worked fine at the time he bought it. We have one set of cushions that fit either the top or bottom bed. My grandfather used them on top and used a better thicker sponge for the bed on the bottom. The gauge cluster is all working including the clock and all the dummy lights. It runs and drives great even on the freeway where it cruises right along at 65-70 M.P.H. easily. I've looked it over from top to bottom and there is very minimal rust that I have included pictures of. The only body damage is the golf ball sized dent in the back corner and the damage on the rear wheel well that I have also included pictures of. Over all in my opinion this is a very nice original VW camper van. I would trust it to go anywhere. If you have any questions about the van feel free to call me on my cell at 408-313-2012. I live in Acampo California which is about 30 minutes South of Sacramento. The van is here at my home so if you're local and would like to see it in person and test drive it, give me a call and I would be happy to show it to you. They only allow 24 pictures on here but I do have a lot more and can take more if there's something more specific or close up you would like to see, just call and ask for them and I can either text them or email them to you.

This is a no reserve auction so the winning bidder will get it for whatever it ends up at. I will require a $1,000 cash deposit within 24 hours of the auctions end that can be paid through Paypal or cash in person. The complete payment must be made within 7 days of the auctions end and by either cash in person when it is picked up or a bank wire transfer. If you want to pay by cashiers check the van and title will have to stay in my possession until the check has completely cleared which takes 7 to 10 business days. A cashiers check is not the same as cash and you can verify that with your bank.
