This is a completely done car, and I mean completely done, with only 200 shake down miles so it's a sorted car that feels solid with no rattles or squeaks. Building cars has been my hobby of 35 years with 80+ builds to my name. I enjoy doing quality builds especially when the funds are available to do it right. Here's the info on the ground up build: Rust free native so cal car that was taken down to the frame, acid dipped, powder coated, then a concours build of the pan, with all the original hardware zinc plated. Great lengths were taken to restore original parts (check out the thread) and then parts were sourced through Wolfsburg West when original parts were to far gone. "Strato" drives tiiiiiight like new and is 100% rattle free. Can't have any of that, right? This car is built in the effort of celebrating... art, attitude, quality, elegance, and craftsmanship. Same way you probably roll. BODY So Cal car so no rust anywhere - Even has original pans. All gaps are to factory spec. Primed and blocked multiple times. No wavy gravy body work here. PPG 2 stage base coat/clear coat, I mean a lot of clear, no... really a lot. - Color sanded for 3 days then polished. My painter flipped out over the car and paint, then went way above the call of duty. Paint color: A contemporary 1955 factory VW color called "Strato Silver". Swan neck mirrors from AAC. INTERIOR Rattle trap sound deadener used throughout the car. The dark blue wool carpeting, jet black wool headliner, and black Sonnenland canvas top,, are all German ($3500) and worth every penny. Everything was intentionally tailored by 63 year old craftsman, no prefab here. Front Seats - Recaros with custom seat covers and matching door panels. Handmade by Loyola Interiors. Another amazing craftsman. Hagerty Ins. did a youtube on his interior work. All window rubbers, molding and scrapers are new from Wolfsburg West. All glass is factory with the acception of a crystal clear windshield. BUMPERS Rechromed originals front and rear. They were shipped to Utah and Keystone did all the straightening and rechroming duties. It cost more, but it's so worth it because no one local can match their work. Also rechromed all window frames, and various misc, parts. Gotta do it right, right!? ENGINE 100% Completely new Scat 2276 Volks Racer Kit. Balanced, blue printed and built by a aero space mechanic. I went for the forged piston option because of the strength over the cast ones. It's bullet proof and and runs incredibly smooth. Supposedly it can lift the front wheels off the ground. (Not sure what that's good for. Hmmmm.... Bragging rights?....... Ahhhhh-nnNO.) TRANS. Rebuilt 1968 Freeway flyer - selected for it's wider track. SHIFTER. Vintage Speed: It has a shorter throw than a bug shifter. Feel extremely positive. Very cool upgrade. The shifter rod bushings are new with the rear coupler being polyurethane. I liked the color of the shift knob so much that I stripped and stained the steering wheel to match. BRAKES Completely new through out from the duel master cylinder, calipers - all flex & hard lines, CB Performance Front disks / and rear discs. They're awesome. Anytime you want to fling bug guts off the windshield, give the brake pedal a stab. Emergency brake is in top form as well. SUSPENSION COMPLETELY NEW. FRONT: CB Performance 2 ½ drop spindles / 2 inch narrowed CB Performance I-beam with adjusters & new torsion springs; polyurethane bushings. New KYB Shocks. CB Performance 3/4 sway bar w/polyurethane bushings. Steering box: Restored original, with quick ratio steering - 2 1/2 lock to lock. Ninja quick steering. Plus restored original steering dampener. REAR: Spring plates: original - dropped one notch. New polyurethane spring plate bushings. Tires; New Fuchs aftermarket: Chromed. 6 1/2 rears 5 1/2 fronts - Super strong and light wheel. Dash is detailed through out. Smart phone hook up into a 150 watt cold amp with new stereo speakers that cleanly mounts into custom foot well pods. The speaker grills were blacked out for a super clean look. AWESOME!!!! Int. light works (LED) as it should as well as speedo warning lights and turn signal lights. Also added 2nd LED int. light in the foot well. Door threshold plates are aluminium. The door mechanisms; vent windows are completely rebuilt, works like new, and look beautifully restored. Both doors and windows are water and air tight. And the sound they make when they shut gets comments everytime. Just a solid "THUMP" with out a peep of a rattle. Everything works - headlights high beams; low beams - parking lights - brake lights - turn signals lights - dome light - license plate light - all warning lights - turn signal indicator light - all switches work - emergency brake - vent windows - door locks - glove box lock - and the horn works. Again, this is a new car throughout, turnkey ready to go anytime and anywhere.
