1970 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia
Selling my 1970 savannah beige Westfalia bus. I've owned this bus for about ten years and don't use it much, so I want someone who will enjoy it more to have it. The bus was originally from Florida, so it never saw northeast winters and is exceptionally solid, clean and original. Ive been a professional mechanic, bodyman, and painter my whole life and have been collecting and restoring busses for thirty years, I've owned nearly thirty different busses over the years and this one is the nicest most original most solid early bay window I've owned. I did the body and paint about five years ago, so there are a few small blisters on the battery tray corner and a little bubbling on the engine hatch, but overall the paint is very shiny and fresh. I installed new correct style upholstery on the front seats and the original mustard upholstery in the rear is clean and unblemished. I installed a new pop top canvas at that time but bees ate a small hole up above the fiberglass that is not noticeable from the outside. The engine starts right up and runs strong, it has a new carburetor and tune-up, the bus drives nice and shifts smoothly, the brakes work as they should and have new rubber lines. The electric system and lights all work as they should, it even has the working lighter to power your devices. The bus has a trailer hitch and custom roof rack. Included in the sale is the original Westfalia drive away camping tent which is in very good condition, but the poles have a little rust. The bus needs a few pieces of weatherstrip and a little detailing to be perfect. The value of early bay campers has been skyrocketing, so this is your chance to buy a very nice bus that will only continue to rise in value. I'm setting the opening bid at $18.000, which will be the reserve. I feel that price is well below the current market value, so someone may get an excellent deal. Please note the bus is available for inspection prior to bidding, but you are not bidding to come take a look and then think about it, if you bid, please be a serious buyer. Shipping will be at your arraignment, but will not happen until a cashiers check clears the bank.
