1969 Volkswagen Bus/VanagonI am selling a 1969 Bus that I affectionately call "the Mermaid Bus" because of the beautiful Mermaid that the hippies painted on the side. I got this Bus out of a barn in West Virginia last year and unfortunately can not get to fixing it up. This is an authentic old school Deadhead Bus that used to be on tour back in the day. Lots of rust but she still oozes free love and good vibes!!
Mermaid Bus started life as a sunroof Deluxe but was converted sometime to a highroof. They cut some of the inside roof, but the highroof addition is super cool! Since she was a sunroof Bus, she has the full belly pans including the center one (a pop-top Bus only has the two outer pans). Belly pans are still in pretty good shape, frame is solid, and torsion tube is solid. Doglegs rusty, rockers rusty, battery trays gone. Slider door works pretty well.
The interior is actually pretty decent with a Westy closet, jump seat, table, Z-bed, and rear non-walkthrough cushion. Rear piece of wood needs fixed on the closet. Front seats could use a thorough scrub.
Has a transmission in unknown condition, but no axles. No motor. I will include a mustache bar and an original air cleaner. She rolls easy. M-code plate and VIN plate match the title, but are from a different Bus according to M-codes. VIN in engine compartment is rusted away. Clean West Virginia title matching the VIN plate and the M-code plate.
Price is high to scare off vultures who might want to part her out.
I am wanting to find her a new home where she will be loved, used, and preserved for many years to come. Mermaid Bus is special to me, and I hope you can understand that!
I will help load and try to coordinate with any shipping arrangement.
