Description:

1983 Volkswagen Rabbit

You are bidding on 2 of the ugliest cars you'll ever see, but Good Lord they both have a soft spot in my heart. Ok lets start with the first step child:
1983 Rabbit Diesel Rat Rod with CLEAN and clear title: If you follow the Volkswagen scene you'll possibly know about a timeless Rabbit simply known as the "Bucket". The Bucket flew off ramps, lit em up at cook outs, and was generally thrashed around. The owner ended up scrapping the ol Bucket, but her soul will live on. I ended up buying this rabbit because it was the rare light Miami blue as seen in the pics, and I wanted to revive the "Bucket" and call her the "Pail" or something ridiculously terrible.
Regardless, what we have here is a 83 Rabbit Diesel rolling shell. The exterior has very minimal rust as its been a Texas car. I notice surface rust in spots but nothing is out of control. I have yet to lift up the carpet but I'm willing to bet you could cook up a nice filet mignon and fettuccine pasta and eat it off the floor. I wouldn't try that, but you get the idea. But again, I'm not sure whats under the carpet but considering there's no visible/minimal rust on the exterior or engine bay of the car, I'm willing to bet its decent on the floor boards. The interior is "meh". Its not bad, but its not great either. The passenger side doors on this luxury car do not open, so the panels will have to be removed and the handles will have to be fixed so you can let those 10 outta 10 heavenly blessed beauties in the back or passenger seat without having to get in the car first.
First thing I did was chop off the square headlight front end and welded in a round headlight conversion from an Orange car (I couldn't believe how terribly lucky I was to find an orange front end). After months of searching, I finally found the rest of the front end conversion a few states over. In doing the front end conversion, the inside of the fender walls still need to be welded together or just simply weld additional bracing, your call and not terribly imperative as the front end basically supports the radiator and fan.
The Rabbit does not have the fenders bolted on and they simply slide right off. The fenders definitely have some surface rust and dents but that's the look I was going for, a silly rat rod. The tires are rotted and will need replacing. The car will just have to have a general go through and cleaning. You get the point, the car is older than I am and I can barely walk up a flight of stairs, so of course you should know this car is in need of TLC, I shouldn't have to go into absolute detail as you should know by the pics what you're bidding on as its far from perfect.
Second car for grabs is a 1983 Jetta Diesel Sport with NO TITLE. Now this thing is COOL! It has some sweet "Sport" decal on it to grab all the ladies attention. Also the car is complete, engine, transmission and all. From the pics you can see this sucker has been sitting in the sun for who knows how long (im willing to bet upwards of 15 years) and its got a lot of "character". Lets start with the exterior. Unfortunately there are some pings and dings from years of neglect sitting beside a barn. It has a cracked windshield and a few doors wont open.
The interior, hahahaha, well, it looks like, hmmm, lets just say you'll need to take a long shower and grab a tetanus shot after sitting in this beaut. Totally joking, but I'm willing to bet some rain water got in over the years and mildewed things up. It needs a complete scrub down. Again, no visible/minimal rust on the exterior of the car or engine bay, But...... the floorboards on this one, Not even going to guess, matter of fact I'm not going to look in fear I'd get attacked by a mouse named Margaret. The engine bay wiring in some spots has been used as a chew toy and there's some serious need for cleaning. I tried kicking the car over, and it churns slowly, but does not fire. You can imagine this being the case after sitting forever. I don't know the condition of the engine but hey, these little diesels can be gone through and rebuilt for less than $200.
Now I had this car to use as a parts car for swapping everything over too the rabbit (think engine, transmission, and various other parts) but it could easily just as well get a 1.8T swap and become a killer sleeper. A lost title would have to be applied for and you'll be out cruising the Sonic before you know it. Again, this Jetta was being used to swap everything over to the Rabbit but do as you see fit.
These cars are being sold as is! I have no other information to give you other than they are both PROJECTS and need WORK! Let the pictures do the talking, they got "character" and they will need to be trailored off. Use one as a parts car and fix one up or fix em both up, Or turn them both into 1.8 turbo beasts! Regardless, NO RESERVE on these 2 dudes!!
Happy Bidding!
