1970 Volkswagen Beetle - ClassicBasic Information
This is a "relisting" - successful buyer could not pay for this VW!
PLEASE; DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE!
Reserve: I have set a very reasonable reserve taking into account that the new owner will have to spend time installing all of the "new" materials.
I have taken photos of some of the major replacement parts, e.g.
New – Seat Upholstery/ all Carpeting/ Door Panels/ Top cover
Other parts/spares include original rear window, original rear driver’s side quarter window with new track to be installed, top seals, and so much more.
The spares will be packed and labeled accordingly.
I have available all service/parts documentation.

What a FUN car!
It starts, it runs, the Transmission (4 Speed) is smooth, no slippage in the clutch. It’s a driver. You can drive and restore at the same time.
Since this car is registered as an Antique car, I have only driven it on special occasions as well as to keep it fresh.
The original floor pan had some pin holes, otherwise is was in good condition.. I fiberglassed the entire interior floor pan.
A portion of the luggage compartment was rusted out. I have cut out around the rusted area, treated it, and installed aluminum sheeting. A replacement luggage section is available online.d.
The tire well has a small section that has rusted through.
The top frame hinge areas were replaced with new ones and welded in place.
Top has been removed, the top frame restored in preparation for a new top. To keep the cost down, I planned to install only a vinyl top, without the intermediate horse hair liner and interior liner. I have had several convertibles that only had a vinyl/canvas top. Not only is it less expensive, but also it makes the top opening/closing easier with less weight.
The paint is good, not exceptional. There are some small surface rust spots that can be repaired easily.
Great! Starts every time. Runs smooth and fast.
Virtually all systems function.
Original radio AM/FM works poorly. Needs attention. Suspect the speaker needs to be replaced.
Why am I selling it?
This has been a long term “work in progress!” We have bought a new home and my time is spent in remodeling it. Just no more time to continue to work on my fun VW!
VW Tow Bar
I have a tow bar that is designed especially for this classic VW. This is included with the VW.
