1987 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon GL

The 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon GL came with a 2.1L water-cooled four-cylinder engine that generated 95hp and could pop wheelies if you put race gas in it. (Ok, not really..I just want to make sure you are gonna read the entire ad. This bus comes with the standard manual transmission that was offered and has rear-wheel-drive and rack and pinion steering, power-assisted brakes, and front and rear independent suspension. The Vanagon was offered in a number of trim packages this being the highest end GL model that I am offering for sale on behalf of a friend of mine. This Vanagon has been customized for a one off same as no other look, it will make you king of the streets at any gas station you stop at and get you thumbs ups and waves from the paparazzi as they drive by in their old boring cars. Now to accomplish this urban street machine's rugged good looks it was given a whole new paint job a couple years ago (please see pic for some filler cracking on the driver side slider door), then the crew atWallentineMotorsports took over and installed all new window rubber, tinted side windows so that the paparazzi can't take pics of your VIP friends in the back, and a new front window so you can see your future as you're driving down the highways of America (or wherever you may be). To let oncoming traffic know that they are staring down the path of a beast we added a hard to find South American front grill, brand new bumpers and end caps, and a set of KC Hilite fog lamps. Now with it looking so fresh and so clean there was no way we could leave it stock height, that just ain't right...so we ordered up a set of brand new Method wheels and of course some General brand All Terrain tires. In order to make it ride as good as it looked some new Go Westy suspension and new Bilstein shocks were used...while we wanted it to look rugged on the outside, we wanted to make sure it drove as good as it looked! This van was built to be a daily driver to haul the youth of America around town in something that was worlds away from your standard mini-van...I mean really who has time to drive a boring car? In order to make sure this runs and drives as good as it looks some time was spent to make sure that the mechanicals were all in order. The first thing on the list was new wheel bearings and brakes on all four corners, a new set of Go Westy cooling pipes were added, new radiator fan, new CV's and axles, new heads and head gaskets were installed on the motor, new water pump, cooling bottle, and thermostat housing..while we were at it we put on a new clutch, Magnaflow muffler and a catalytic converter just so we can meet those California emission standards (if needed I will have the van slogged prior to delivery). Are you tired of reading about all the new new new parts on this thing yet?...yeah we made sure that this thing rocked before we put it into daily service hauling the owner and his family around the mean streets of Roseville, Ca. By now you may have gotten tired of reading and switched over to the pictures, you notice that one off custom interior...yeah we had to go a little outside the box on this one and give it a little California flair, or as we call it around here some of that Cal-Look! This was accomplished by laying down some fresh new carpet, and having some wicked Mexican blanket style seat covers custom stitched, and of course you can't cruise around town in something with this much awesomeness and not have a nice little stereo installed to play your favorite funky tunes. Now this vehicle isn't perfect, you got to remember it was built in 87' and has some of the same flaws as my ex-girlfriend...meaning for some reason the A/C can't hold a job..it has one job and that's to work..but like her sometimes it works, and some times it doesn't, now neither of them ever gave me an explanation for this, so you'll need to get it looked at if you live in a hot climate, or maybe sweet talk it and buy it a Coach purse and it will work just fine for a year or two..that worked for me once..not the bus..the Add to dictionary The windshield washer bottle has a case of the humpty dumpty's and looks like fell off the wall and needs to be put back together again...now you'll have to find your own kings men and horses for this..the A/C vent that goes through the middle of the passenger cabin has been removed, now if you need one I can get it and include it with the purchase as I know a guy, who knows a guy, that has a friend with one for sale. If you don't care about it then I won't worry about sending him a ping on his pager.I'm happy to work with those that are out of state, out of the country, or locals that bring beer. Payment Policy
