1966 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Combi-Style Bus

You are looking at a fully restored and immaculate 1966 Volkswagen Combi-style Bus. These buses are hard to find that are in their original shape, and not all beat up and rusty. We have spent two years restoring and searching for that extra nice part. This old bus drives excellent and smooth down the road, and will only appreciate with time!

This bus was 99% rust free when we started the project. We first had it completely stripped down and sandblasted inside and out. We primered and blocked the bus three times with urethane primer and wet sanded the last coat with 600 grit. The paint is PPG Concept Urethane, the bottom color is Bahama Blue code L519, the upper color is Bleuweiss L289. We chose this color combo for its vintage look, and to match the interior color. This bus is very shiny and very straight, it looks better in person than in the pictures. We also completely painted and undercoated everything underneath, NO RUST!

The motor is a stock factory rebuilt 1500cc single port, but the miles are unknown. We stripped the motor down and resealed everything, no leaks, very clean! Motor runs strong and smooth. Still has the factory 6-volt system, fully functioning. The transmission shifts perfectly and quietly. We also put in a new clutch. This nice old bus has new brake shoes, new cylinders, and a new master cylinder. We chose to run 15-inch wheels, painted two-tone to match the body. Plus brand new radial 165x15 tires. We also added new wheel clips, and new German hubcaps.

As you can see in the pictures, everythinginthis bus has been completely re-upholstered with the Wolfsburg upholstery kit, including the headliner, drink tray and the front and rear rubber mats. The upholstery kit is the Wolfsburg Phosphorous and Como green. It is very vintage looking, and matches the body color nicely! The glass is all original script Sekurit, except the windshields. All the doors and windows are completely restored with new Wolfsburg rubber and seals. All the window latches work and are not pitted. You can wash this bus, and no water gets inside. All the electrical works including the gas gauge. We didn't hook up the radio. We restored the original steering wheel and it feels good. This old bus has new wipers, new mirrors, painted wheel spare tire, and also the original 6-volt gas heater.

The front and rear bumpers are stock restored VW bus bumpers, we spent a lot of time on these to make them a perfect fit. This bus has a tool kit and stock Bilstein jack. The roofrack was found off an older VW split-window bus, fits perfectly and easily bolts on and off, looks stock.

Every part of the bus was cleaned, oiled and adjusted - we know everything about it! Call Jack if you need more details or have any questions 208-888-1240 (USA mountain time). Thanks for looking. We have been restoring Buses and Bugs for over 35 years, so you can bid with confidence!
