Description:

1972 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Van

Estate Sale. This is a California van that had two owners. The first was a minister. The second purchased it from the minister so that he, his wife, and children could travel together. After his children were raised and left home, he parked it in 1991 and didn't move it again until he began restoring it last year. He had the motor rebuilt and disassembled the van before he became ill and was unable to complete his project. It has its original blue and yellow California license plates.
The van has spent its entire life in the California Central Valley. It has no major body damage. (there is one small dent at the left rear bottom corner below the tail light. There is also some rust-through on the passenger side floor board, but there is a patch panel for it. He removed the carburetor to rebuild, but did not complete it. Consequently, the van does not now run. The receipts for the engine rebuild (over $2000) and all mechanical work goes with the car. It also comes with the original rear seat and an optional side-vented window (that was never installed).
All of the parts come with the car, there are soft interior parts that need replacing or are missing, including headliner and interior panels along the doors and sides, headline, and floor. All metal and mechanical parts come with the vehicle, including four original hubcaps and the VW emblem from the front (that was removed to allow for a spare-tire mount).
This VW was not abused during its life. It is an excellent restoration project for someone who either has the knowledge and time or interest. Includes manuals and wiring diagram. His wife is moving to a retirement home. I am a family friend who is helping her sell the vehicle to settle the estate. Please ask any questions you have, and I will do my best to get you the answers.
