1985 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia

This is a 1985 VW Vanagon GLWestfalia Camper Van made in Germany and in excellent condition. The van has a 4 speed standard transmission and NOT the troublesome and expensive to fix automatic that some came with. If you do not know how to drive a standard keep looking. This van just passed a "quality" inspection that a potential buyer paid to have done! They loved it and was told to ship it to Hawaii and sell it there for $60k! The original mileage is 128,000, The speedometer was replaced at 95000 and the new speedo reads 33,000 now. I have a receipt documenting the miles when it was replaced. It has had much work done in the past year. The original 1.9 engine has new Go Westly cylinder heads, push rod tubes, water pump, PS pump, all engine seals and exhaust pipes installed with stainless bolts. Muffler and cat were replaced by PO. It has all new Stainless steel cooling pipes from the front radiator back to the engine. The power steering rack was replaced by the PO and all power steering lines from front to rear have also just been replaced with construction grade lines. It has a new fuel tank with all new evaporation and balancing lines and upgraded filter . The clutch slave cylinder and flex line. New ignition lock cylinder and electrical, double set of all keys, new NOS slider handle, lock for water tank filler. The body has a new Base coat/ Clear coat paint job in the original Savannah gold and fiberglass top was recoated in original beige color as original. All glass was removed when painted and all seals and new tinted windshield installed along with wiper arms being bead blasted and refinished in original satin black and have new oversize Bosch wiper blades! It had only some surface rust around windows which was properly taken care of before being repainted. Also the drivers side rocker panel was replaced since all vanagons rust in this area due to the way it was manufactured, VW made it with 4 panels coming together in this inaccessible area which collected water and caused rust before the owner knew it had started. The replacement panel has a fake seam along the length so it looks original but doesn't have the extra welded itersection which causes rust! The front luggage rack was removed to clean out underneat, no rust was found and both this area and the area surrounding the pop top tent when it is open was repainted body color. The fiberglass pop top and luggage rack seals were replaced as well as stainless screws were used to reinstall luggage rack and the 6 tie down clips on the luggage rack which always rust were replaced with (no rust) stainless ones from Go westy! The plastic skylite, skylite seal and opening mechanism were replaced also with new parts. Both gas struts on the rear lift gate were replaced. Both rear side marker lights were replaced with new LED fixtures. The original upholstery is in great condition and is the first year for the nicer seat pattern that they used til the last Vanagon came off the line. The pop top material has been replaced and now has additional screens on the sides, originally it only had on in the front, it is a few years old but the material and screens are solid. It has a dual battery setup so when you are camping you don't run down your primary battery and can still start the engine, it gets charged up when your back on the road! The tires have all been replaced and have only a couple thousand miles on them and are on the desirable factory VW Vanagon alloy wheels . All brakes have been replaced by the PO. It has a new rear chrome bumper, all new bumper end caps, new outside mirrors, new windshield. All new body "camper" stickers. It has a new on board water tank electric pump, new sink supply and drain plumbin, 2 new fridge fans were installed in place of the weak original fan to make the fridge operate better as well as 2 small fans under the side window to exhaust the hot air from the fridge outside in the summer and another fan in another location to blow the hot into the interior when camping in cool weather. These are controlled by separate switches for the utmost of comfort. It has a 2 burner propane stove, 3 way Dometic fridge, many storage cabinets. All original tan curtain curtains are in good condition including the windshield curtain as well as the screen for the rear tailgate opening, (see pic). Has a new set of HD rubber front floor mats from Go Westy, upgraded LED interior lighting in kitchen area, propane tank was replaced a few years ago and had started to get surface rust. I beadblasted the tank, coated it with epoxy primer, urethane paint in the correct white color and replaced the brass fill valve, regulator valve, shut off and bleeder valves! It has an Alpine CD stereo radio with kenwood speakers. The original A/C system over the rear seat was removed when I got the van but all of the other A/C parts are still intact if someone wanted to get another A/C unit. Not a good idea since when new they never worked very well so it is more beneficial having the storage space in the cabinet over the rear seat! This van runs excellent, all the work that I have mentioned in this ad has just been complete in the past year and it has just passed a state safety inspection. I have been driving this van all summer and it is a pleasure to drive! Always gets compliments and thumbs up!This van has lots of passing power on the interstate and is ready for camping! I have all the original manuals and a pile of receipts from previous owner and from what I have spent. There are many vanagon campers out there for sale but None with the amount of restoration work that has just been done to this Vanagon! All of the work done to this is Vanagon are things that all Vanagons need but most owners don't go to this extent.Bidders please get permission from spouse before bidding, Remember you are bidding to own, not to call and ask questions about it.Any questions?
