1965 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Kombi1965 VW Bus for Sale 1965 VW Kombi Bus for Sale Buy This Classic 1965 Volkswagen Bus Pearl White Split Window VW Bus "Barn Find" for sale
This is a 1965 VW Bus for sale. My intention was to have this bus restored as I do have several VW Bus restoration projects already underway and I have sold a lot of nicely restored buses. But I need some funds to complete several other restorations so I am putting this one up for sale. This bus has a lot of redeeming qualities and the restoration on this particular example will cost far less than a bus that needs more work. Just for example this bus has a nice, solid nose so that will save lots of money in both not needing a replacement section nor the labor to fit it. The uncut dash and other areas will save even more time and money. Restoring these buses is a lot of work so even though this is a great restoration candidate there is obviously much work to be done. But this is a great foundation for a restoration since it has solid frame rails front to back. Two of the VW buses I'm having restored needed complete frame swaps which is a huge job on a VW Bus! The restoration of this bus will be a much less expensive proposition.
The bus has a running1500cc engine. I hired my Uncle to get it running and driving well enough to tour the back yard and it can be shipped as a running vehicle to reduce transportation costs. The bus starts with starting fluid and the emergency brake works some. As you can see the Bus has the complete front seats, a spare tire and everything you see in the photos. It doesn't have rear seats as there is a hand made bed in the rear. But the front splash pan, air cleaner, bumpers and other hard to find parts are still there.
The previous owner enjoyed this bus for over 25 years. The bus had been parked after one last drive to a festival in the '90s and it then sat for a long time. I bought the bus and after several hours of working to free the bus from its long time resting place I was able to finally get it on my car trailer. (The bus was literally frozen in place as it was winter and was quite the exciting and chilly challenge). But I was able to get the bus to the "doctor" and since it has been worked on it will now start and run with a little encouragement from starting fluid.
I do have video of the engine running and of me driving this bus around private property, but keep in mind this bus has not been driven regularly in many, many years. It will needs brakes and more to be a daily driver. The bus needs a good cleaning, that probably goes without saying but yes, it's a barn find and it is dirty and has had critters live in it over the years. But the bus comes with a good battery and it starts with starting fluid so it can get loaded on a trailer or transport easier. I do sell Worldwide and can help with arranging shipping. I do have a clear title in my name. I was told the bus was a '67 so the title reads that. The correct VIN is on the bus and the title and I can provide all documents needed for the new owner to register the bus or to have the bus pass through customs.
Have a look through the photos and videos and you will get a good feel for the condition of this classic "hippy van". There are even more photos on my Sunset Classics Web Site accessible via the photo gallery link at the end of the photos in this auction. VW Buses are selling for big bucks restored and this is a wise investment. Alas, I have to pass this opportunity on to someone else. Whether you are looking to invest, to own, to restore yourself, or to get a daily driver together for yourself this could be the bus for you to know and love. Thanks for looking.
