The Triumph TR7 was manufactured in the UK from September 1974 to October 1981. It was built by the Triumph Motor Company, part of British Leyland. Initially, they were produced at Speke, Liverpool. In 1978, production was moved to Canley, Coventry. Finally, in 1980, production moved to the Rover plant in Solihull. The car's code name was "Bullet" while it was being developed. Its characteristic wedge shape was promoted as "The Shape of Things to Come". Power came from a 105 horsepower, 1998 cc 4-cylinder engine. The rear wheels were initially driven through a 4-speed manual transmission. From 1976 on, a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission was available. In the end, 112,368 hardtop and 28,864 convertible TR7s were built. *
