Description:

1966 Triumph Spitfire

This is a vey nice late production Triumph Spitfire 4 Mk 2. It is titled as a 1966 model year and has the unique features of the later production cars including the anti-burst push button door handles, and the 1147 cc engine with the early PCV system. I acquired this car back in 2014 and kept it at my professional restoration shop which provided climate controlled storage for it, along with the other 5 early Spitfires that I own. It was a running and driving car when I bought it, and during my ownership I have only had to do minor maintenance to it. These items include new master cylinders, a new shift boot, new glove box inserts, new hardtop securing hardware, and fluid checks and changes. This car is equipped with a factory hardtop, overdrive (even has the original column overdrive switch), and has accessory AMCO front and rear bump bars. The original jack is included as is what is remaining of the factory tool kit. The convertible top frame is present as is the original top and tonneau cover. Actual mileage is 25,680, I have a local sheriff to thank for adding a 1 on the front when it came in from out of state because "there is no way a car that old can only have that many miles on it!" I have tried to have it corrected with the Kentucky transportation cabinet but they have been of no help. Based on the previous eBay ad (where the previous owner before me bought it), and the overall condition of the car, I believe the mileage of 25,680 to be correct.
This car was kept dry and I have included extensive pictures of the floor pans, rockers, hood and valances. While the car is not perfect and is an older repaint with some knicks and dings, it does show well overall and is of good driver quality. There is a small fist-sized dent in the lower rear driver's side quarter panel that it has had since I bought the car. I have tried to show it in some of the pictures. The hood show no signs of even being bumped or repaired. I have extensive paperwork on the car including the original title, bill of sale from the dealership, loan documents from 1966, TSOA membership cards, and advertising. Included in the original paperwork, is an accident report from June 9 of 1967 where the car was involved in a fender bender with a Mercury Comet that resulted in $163.05 worth of damage to the rear fender, trunk lid, bumper and bump bar. These items were repaired in period. Both the original accident report, and the insurance letter paying for the accident are included in the documentation.
I am the fourth owner and have chain of custody documentation back to the original purchase on August 31, 1966.
Car runs and drives well as is. A couple of items that will need attention are an oil leak at the output drive flange of the overdrive, and the rear universal joints are starting to get a little noisy. The seats are original, as are the door cards, rear cockpit panels, and fuel tank panel. The carpet has been replaced at some point, and the dash has had someone veneer the gauge cluster and radio panel in burled walnut as opposed the original wrinkle finish. The hardtop has had the original headliner replaced with a red vinyl instead of the original gray/white vinyl. The radio was not in the car when I purchased it as the previous owner had added period supplemental gauges, however an original Triumph radio is included in the sale.
I am available to assist international buyers with shippingdetails including loading and securing the car in intermodal containers if needed as well as preparation of shipping documentation on my end. Additionally, I can store the car for up to 90 days at my secure facility if needed. I will also be glad to meet your shipper at a nearby location to pickup the car if needed.

I was asked for some videos of the car running and driving, so I took a couple today:
Cold startup -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDu7JFF3mrE
Driving showing road manners and overdrive operation -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myiBwtvtqY0
Sorry the production value is not great, but trying to steer and shift and hold a smartphone is not a talent of mine. It is worth watching to the end though for the wildlife encounter.
