1980 Triumph TR7

DRASTIC PRICE REDUCTION!!!!

Up for sale is my 1980 Triumph TR7 convertible with a John’s Cars 4.1 litre Buick V6 conversion.

John’s Cars has been doing this conversion since the 70’s and is still going strong today.

Reason for the sale is that I preparing to start my new project of installing a V8 LS1 Corvette Motor in a 1987 Porsche 944.

I WANT TO START MY PORSCHE BUILD SO I HAVE DRASTICALLY REDUCED THE PRICE OF THIS FANTASTIC CAR!!!

(That one will be a LOT of fun to drive!) What can I say, I think I like working on and building cars more than driving them!

Everything I can think of on the TR7 is listed below, and I’ve taken detailed photos to show as much as possible. I DO HAVE A WALK AROUND VIDEO WITH THE CAR RUNNING THAT I CAN SEND YOU.

If you are a Triumph purist I salute you, but this car is not a stock TR7. On the other hand if you like big motors in small2 seater sports car with sexy/sleek body lines….this one is right up your alley!

The car turns heads and generates lots of questions everywhere it goes, and is a total ball/rush to drive, especially to local cruise-ins.

It is extremely quick when compared to the original 4 banger that was in it, and parts are readily available for a Buick!

I purchased the car from California approximately 5 months ago and it is RUST FREE. The car already had the conversion done but it was in need of MORE TLC and bling!!

According to the owner (and inspection pretty well confirmed it) the engine and the Borg Warner 5 speed transmission it is linked to were rebuilt approximately 750 to 1000 miles ago.

Once I received the car I drove it, made my list, and got to work.

The following things have been added / done to the car in the last 3 months:

ENGINE: The engine is a Buick 4.1 litre even fireV6 with Buick factory performance intake, Edelebrock 4 barrel carb, and mild cam.

I did a complete tune up changed the oil, and added some bling with Edelbrock valve covers, air cleaner, and 10mm plug wires.

The engine compartment was cleaned up some as well.

EXHAUST: The cast iron exhaust manifolds were removed, and a set of John’s Cars Custom headers were installed. I took it to the local muffler shop and a complete custom exhaust system was installed from the header collectors out the back. It sounds awesome, and gave it a little more HP.

TOP: A brand new black convertible top was installed.

BODY: A Stage 2 ground effects kit was installed, and the luggage rack holes were welded and blended, then a new spoiler was added to the rear deck.

PAINT: The car was originally yellow so I decided to keep it yellow but use modern type paint.

The urethane paintis a 2 stage base coat and clear coat BUT I also had them spray a coat of pearlesentchips suspended in clear over the bright firemist yellow base coat…THEN clear coa! It looks NICE and pops! Paint was finished on 5/10/2017.

WHEELS AND TIRES: I removed the 13 inch wheels and skinny tires and replaced them with new 15 inch Rota rims and a new set of P205/50/15 tires. The height of the tires is almost identical to the others and the speedometer reading doesn’t appear to have been changed.

RADIO AND ANTENNA: I installed a new short black antenna. I have not purchased a radio yet.

LIGHTS: All lights are currently working and the headlightsDO pop up and go back down. Turn signals work, but do not self-cancel. I attempted to order a new switch but Moss Motors was out of them.

AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER: The car does not have A/C and the heater does work.

CARPET: New black carpet.

SEATS: Seats or in fair shape but should either be recovered OR I was thinking of installing 2 black highback sports seats available from Jegs for only $160.00 each.

GAUGES: All gauges work except for the clock. The tachometer works but needs to be sent to John’s Cars for modification to show V6 RPM instead of 4 cylinder rpm.

REAR VIEW OUTSIDE MIRRORS: Both are new and were ordered from Moss Motors

THE CAR RUNS WELL, TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GOOD, CLUTCH FEELS GOOD, IT HANDLES AND RIDES GOOD, IS CURRENTLY VIRGINIA INSPECTED AND BEING DRIVEN, I HAVE A CLEAR TITLE IN HAND! IT COMES WITH A CAR COVER AND THE ORIGINAL JOHN'S CARS CONVERSION MANUAL

Is the car perfect? No, but it’s pretty darn close! If it was perfect, you’d see a much higher price tag.

I have about 12,000.00 in the car so the price of $5,750.00 is A STEAL.... AND THE RESERVE IS SET LOW!!!

The car is sold “as is” with no warranty either expressed of implied, and the sale is final. Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping
