This particular auction is for an authentic original 1967 Triumph TR4A IRS Roadster as shown. It is an unrestored, numbers matching unmodified original survivor in fine condition. A perfect easy project that will continue to climb in value. I will answer all email questions. Following is a detailed description: GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A straight, attractive, desirable, numbers matching, final year 1967 Triumph TR4A IRS survivor with independent rear suspension and plenty of eye appeal as viewed from any angle. A 50 year old Tennessee roadster that has spent it's entire life there with one family from new. Always garaged, it is solid as a rock and was running and driving perfectly when parked in 1989. The original owner passed away and his son inherited it. He had no interest in the car and I purchased it from him. As indicated on the British Motor Industry Heritage certificate it was shipped on 3 November, 1966 from the Navy Yard Wharf, Harwich, Essex, England, aboard the vessel "Wilienius Sailing" to Standard Triumph Motor Company in Jacksonville Florida. It is running well but not driving due to brake/clutch hydraulics needing attention.

It is getting more difficult for the do it yourselfer to find an original car worthy and inexpensive enough to restore and have something that is a solid original when their job is finished. Most original survivors have disappeared and a lot of the leftovers are either "weekend restored" cars or rusty beaters. An untouched original, even if it has problems, gives you a more accurate assessment of it's overall condition and what kind of work needs to be done. This Triumph TR4A IRS is one of those cars. I do not detail my cars but do wash and clean them so that you and I can see exactly what is under years of dirt and grime. Nothing is hidden. As of this writing Hagertys classic car values the 1967 Triumph TR4A IRS at $12,600 fair, $20,300 good and $32,700 excellent. Average of $20,300. ENGINE: Excellent original matching numbers engine. Starts easily with the key and runs on it's own original fuel tank. Runs very smooth and quiet. Idles fine. The oil is clean. Excellent oil pressure, even when warm on idle. No smoke, knocking or other noises. Original carburetors have been cleaned and adjusted. Original AC fuel pump was cleaned and rebuilt. Good original radiator. Most water hoses are 50 year old originals and would need replacing - hard to imagine they still don't leak and the engine does run at a perfect cool temperature with zero overheating problems. Alternator works. Float bowls drip a little - needs float adjustment - a 10 minute task. Engine number is CT73594E. TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH: The original matching numbers TR4A all syncro 4 speed transmission, non overdrive. Shifts well through all of the gears (engine not running), exactly like these transmissions normally function. Clutch master and slave cylinders may need replacing or rebuilding. (assuming so because of the long term storage). However the master cylinder still is full of clean fluid and may not need much. This was a running and driving car when parked. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very nice, solid and straight. No rust, no damage. Battery box is even useable with only one small hole and surface rust/scale/pitting. A battery is not included. Everything else looks nice, original, complete and undamaged. All serial, engine and body plates are intact as shown. Alternator works. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very solid, nice and straight with no rust or damage. Correct 60 spoke spare wire wheel. Spare tire (and the other 4) is/are junk by now. EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS: This is an extremely straight original car having no accident or other damage problems known. The doors are excellent with no rust or damage and they open and shut solidly with no sagging. The door bottoms are solid. The inner rockers are solid. Fender bottoms are solid. Outer rockers are solid with the exception of one small isolated 1/8 inch hole in the middle of the left rocker. No rust seen in the fender seams, where they normally rust. INTERIOR SHEET METAL: The floorboards had a few small holes and heavy scaling in them from the original carpets wet with standing water. They could have been patched easily but this is such a solid car I decided to do a proper job and just replace both pans as shown. (had a new pair of floor pans in the garage rafters and itstallation is almost as easy as patching) Both sides were replaced, properly mig welded completely around the entire perimeter of both pans and seam sealed. Painted 3 times with zinc etching primer, silver automotive paint and a final coat of Triumph racing green automotive paint - no rattle can paint. Results are excellent as shown. EXTERIOR BODY PARTS: The original bumpers are in decent driver condition. The chrome is just 50 year old worn original, good for a driver or replate for show. Grille and headlight assemblys are very good. Tail light assemblys are good. All external body rubber gaskets and seals are old and original and should be replaced. No tonneau cover. PAINT: Poor, thin, cheap, peeling. Use as is or repaint. Repainted once many years ago just for a color change over the original Triumph Racing Green factory paint many years ago. A lot of it has peeled/is peeling away exposing the original green paint and primer underneath. GLASS: The side windows are good with no damage and roll up and down easily. The windshield is good excepting for some minor wiper blade marks and minor delaminating spot on the passenger side right on the edge. Hardly noticeable, nothing that would require replacement. Original windshield surround rubber is petrified as are the side window scraper rubbers and needs replacing. CHASSIS: The frame is in good, straight, unrotted condition as shown. INTERIOR/Upholstery: The interior needs complete software restoration. Original panels are still useable as shown for a driver. The seats need complete restoration. The frames/structures are OK but all software needs replacing. DASH AREA: Dash board needs replacing - the original has delaminated. Working: Speedometer (shows 36900 miles), odometer, trip meter, tachometer works but is sticking, lights, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, ammeter, carburetor choke, bonnet release handle, fresh air center vent. Not working: turn signals, windshield wipers, horns, heater fan, radio. (may be a simple common voltage or ground problem - may not - the wipers started to work but stopped). TOP: The original top frame is excellent and undamaged. The convertible top is actually decent/useable but has a rip over the left front area. Useable for awhile with a bit of tape. AIR CONDITIONING: None. Aftermarket air conditioners can be installed if need be - the new units are excellent, compact and very efficient. TIRES & WHEELS: The 60 spoke wire wheels are good originals to the car. Tires are junk - they hold air, that's all. EXHAUST: Header down pipe from the exhaust manifold is good but system needs replacing from there on. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: All original suspension and braking mechanisms are intact. Nothing missing. The brake hydraulics are not operable due to long term storage and may need replacing or rebuilding. However the master cylinder still has clear fluid in it so it may not need too much - but it may. Emergency brake assembly is intact. It may work or may not. I did not pull on it for fear it would lock up. Ask me how I know. MISCELLANEOUS: Car starts and runs. Rolls and steers easily, so no problem with transport or shuttling, but will need a battery. PAPERWORK: The British Motor Heritage Certificate is included. THERE IS NO TITLE. A bill of sale goes with the car. Tennessee or Georgia never issued titles. If you really want a title most States will issue a title upon having the local police inspect the VIN on the car or a title can be obtained from the South Carolina paperwork that comes with the car. Check your local regulations - they do vary. Most States do not require a title in order to register and license a classic car and have reciprocal agreements for classic cars. (The person I bought it from says that he has the title somewhere but can't find it yet - if he ever does I will forward it to the new owner but chances of him "finding" it are probably slim - ask me how I know) FACTORY ID PLATES: The Vehicle identification ID plate, body plate and engine number are intact and correct. The vehicle serial number is CTC73403L. REVIEW: This is a 50 year old sports car and should be looked at with this in mind. Most everything on the car is 50 years old but still, it is an attractive classic roadster that can be easily finished in many ways or driven as it stands. It can be used as a driver while upgrading areas on the car or can be rebooted into a fine classic in a relatively short time. The final year 1967 TR4A with independent rear suspension is the most desirable of this model. INSPECTION OF CAR: It is difficult at best to describe something as complex as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. If you elect not to do this you will have one of three outcomes after purchasing the car. #1. The car will be exactly as you thought it would be from the auction description and photos and you will be happy. #2. The car will be less than you thought it would be and you will be unhappy. #3. The car will be more than you thought it would be and you will be more than happy, and I will be the same in each case. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 18 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my due diligence and suggest you do the same. SHIPPING: I have shipped many cars to all parts of the world over the years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. The car is in a secure place at my home. You can collect the car there. I can assist with loading. The car can stay here for up to 30 days from the close of the auction. PAYMENT & BIDDING: Contact me if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid WILL be cancelled. A $1000 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 5 days via priority or overnight mail with a bank cashiers check or cash. No Paypal for the balance. Payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. IN ADVANCE, BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Full payment is due BEFORE the car is collected. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the car to see if you like it - if that is your intention, please do not bid on the car. If you cannot trust me, my reputation, the description and the extensive photos then it is your responsibility to inspect the car yourself or have a third party inspect it for you. When the auction is over, it is your car and payment is due at the close of the auction per these instructions. I have sold approximately 25 cars and motorcycles on ebay and they all have been a bargain. This one certainly is. No Paypal for the balance.
