1982 US SPEC Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 in outstanding original condition. One of the most coveted years of the FJ40s and the last "Full-Production year" here in the United States! This one is almost as rare as they get. We are the 2nd owners of this incredible vehicle. Originally sold in San Diego, the original owners lived in Santee, California, and it has lived it's entire life in the dessert and always garaged. In the past 20 years it has been driven less than 7000 miles, and only on sunny dry days. It has seen the local car shows around the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area. Clean and clear CARFAX History Report included with the sale, not to mention the attached Experian Auto Check Report. Original stock Inline 6 cylinder, 4.2L, 2F engine, factory 4 speed full synchromesh transmission and factory smog/emission control equipment. Meticulously maintained. Recent full tune up included oil/filter, antifreeze, spark plugs and wires, alternator and Heavy Duty Battery. Only E0 (Ethanol-Free) premium gasoline has ever been used in this engine and it purrs. Does hwy. speeds with ease and it has factory power steering which makes it easy to make the tight turns. The exhaust system (front to back) is completely original out the rear of vehicle, including the muffler. Brakes work perfectly. (Emergency Brake, and interior "Brake" light, too). Warn locking hubs, four wheel drive, 2 speed transfer case (both High and Low) work perfectly. Factory suspension front to back, all original running gear except for the new shocks. The Brand New 31X10.5 BF Goodrich (KM3's) Mud Terrain Radial tires (including the spare) on all 5 factory original 6-Spoke Toyota wheels and factory caps, have less than 50 miles on them.
Body is uncut, unmolested and original and there is zero rust anywhere on the vehicle. Original paint Toyota #857 Medium Blue, (some like to call it Nordic Blue) inside and out. I have about half a pint of touchup paint that will go with the vehicle for touching up rock chips and scratches, etc. Has it's original pinstriping on the sides, fenders and hood. Factory decals on the underside of the hood, engine, dash, etc. Even both factory "unleaded fuel only" decals are in place on the dash and fuel door. Every factory spot weld is visible, and the entire vehicle has 3 fresh coats of wax on it. It has factory undercoating which has preserved the entire underside. The factory front bumper holds the vintage Heavy Duty Warn 8000 LB. winch (comes with remote) and vintage fog lights that work perfectly. Stock rear bumperettes and 2" hitch in the rear. Has the "old-school" 6 prong light adapter, and I have an adapter for it which converts to the modern 4-prong flat light plug.
Interior is in excellent condition. Original seats (front and back). Front seats have the factory adjustable headrests. Rear seats have their straps that hold them up when not in use, and all 4 seats have their original working seat belts. Even the seat belt indicator light and beeper work! The headliner, dash and visors are original, and have no rips or tears. Original factory floor mats for the middle and rear are like new. The front floor mat was lost by the original owner during a move so driver's and passenger's sides have individual aftermarket mats. However, there is currently one available for sale on Ebay for $5988. The floor was professionally Grey Rhino-Lined in 2004, front to back, by an auto body shop, and they did a fantastic job. All gauges, lights, high-beam indicator light, heater, fan, rear heater, defrost (and side defrost tubes), wipers, windshield washer squirter, "beep-beep" horn, interior light, lighter, seat belts, windows, doors and locks work as they should. The interior light has the factory 3 settings: On, Off and Door setting so it comes on when either door is opened. All glass is original and have the TEQ logo and Temperlite stamped on them. The dash has never been drilled out. The 2-way switch for the fog lights and off-road lights is nicely mounted in the factory hole in the dash. The factory emergency glove box light is in the glove box and has the original emergency light plug-in. Factory roll-bar, with original pads. Comes with the original bottle jack behind the driver's seat(and holder), and original jack handle bars behind the rear seat in their proper homes. (see pics.). Also comes with the TEQ Toyota Motor Co. factory tool kit bag which includes: Toyota Motor Co. Lug Wrenches, hubcap bar, Toyota pliers, Toyota 10 / 12mm and 14 / 17mm open-end wrenches, Toyota spark plug tool, Toyota Crescent Wrench, Jack wrench/crank handle with extensions and Toyota Motor Co. reversible phillips/flat standard screwdriver. This vehicle was originally a "Radio-Delete" (no radio, stereo or speakers). It too has it's original holder and rubber strap. There is a JVC AM/FM Digital Stereo with CD player, clock, and original manual in the glove box. 2 speakers, in boxes, back by the rear seats. No holes were drilled for installation and the entire system can be removed without ever knowing it was there, and it sounds great!
The Con-Ferr style roof/safari rack holds 4 off-road halogen navigator lights, (hard covers included), Blue wooden axe, Blue Hi-Lift jack, and Blue shovel. It is easily removed with 6 nuts and by unplugging the lights. The top comes off with 22 bolts (see pictures). Side and rear ambulance doors are removable as well. Windshield folds down and hooks to the hood (see picture). Tailgate installs easily using the factory rear door hardware and holds the factory rear license plate holder for driving around with the top off legally. There is also a Vintage FJ40 Bimini/Bikini Top with all the hardware that comes with the vehicle.(see picture). Vehicle is always stored with a full "Big Cut" car cover(included) that comes with storage bag and straps.
Oregon plates will go with the vehicle to an Oregon buyer. Currently licensed through January 16th, 2022! Comes with the original 1982 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser Owner's manual and an original 1968-1982 Haynes Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 Owner's Workshop Manual. Clean and Clear title, in my name, in hand.
