1981 Toyota Pickup. 22R motor, five speed manual transmission. This is a one owner low mile original survivor. Original paint, interior, and drive train. 73,600 documented original miles. Exceptional original condition. Always garaged kept and gently used over the years. Very hard to find in this condition. Runs and drives like a new truck. Included with the sale is a log book that meticulously documents the mileage and repair/maintenance history since new.
PAINT/BODY- YES, that is original paint! The truck has had a canopy installed most of its life so the bed is in immaculate condition. The truck is 100% rust free. The original paint is in excellent condition for its age. The trucks exceptional original condition is a testament of years of being garage kept, well cared for, and regular routine maintenance. The undercarriage is very clean and tidy.
ENGINE/TRANSMISSION- 22R, five speed manual transmission (original motor and transmission). The engine bay is pristine. This truck has had meticulous maintenance history that was completely documented in log/mileage book. The carburetor was just completely rebuilt at a cost of over $600. At the time the carburetor was rebuilt a full tune up was done including, new spark plugs, oil change, and air filter (receipt included). I recently had a new muffler installed as well. These first generation Toyotas are built to last . Its not uncommon for the trucks to go 300-500,000 miles on the original drive train. The motor runs like a Swiss watch, the transmission shifts perfectly. The steering is tight, the brakes are excellent.
INTERIOR- The interior is all original. The dash is in perfect condition with no cracks. The headliner and door panels excellent condition. The heater, all electrical components, interior lights, ect., all work great. The original radio was replaced with a AM/FM cassette player which still works well. Overall the interior shows very little wear for its age.
OTHER NOTABLES- New tries and alignment. The original hub caps are in near mint condition. Original manual, tool kit, and jack.
I am regretfully listing my beloved Toyota as I recently purchased a 1979 Hilux 4X4 short box in similar condition and same color to boot! This would be the last truck you would ever need to own as the early Toyotas have legendary reliability and superb engineering. This truck is a pleasure to drive, I get thumbs up almost every time I drive it.Pride of ownership shows throughout!
