The truck was purchased by the seller in a January 2018 BaT auction, and subsequent work included application of new blue paint and installation of a Vintage Air A/C system. Built between 1967-1980, the FJ55 was the first Land Cruiser designed as a four-door wagon. Fresh blue paint was added to this example, and the resulting finish is shown up close in the photo gallery below. Older filler was reportedly removed from the right front fender during the paintwork. New weatherstripping was fitted for the windows and doors under previous ownership. A PTO-driven winch is mounted to the front bumper. Factory 15″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and were mounted with new 33×10.5″ BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tires by the previous owner. Suspension modifications include a 1.5″ lift with HFS shackles and Monroe HD shocks. Prior work on the four-wheel drum brakes included a rebuild of the dual-circuit master cylinder and installation of new wheel cylinders. The interior provides seating for six and was previously refurbished with new door and side panels as well as fresh upholstery on the factory-style bench seats, the rear of which can be folded down to increase cargo capacity. Additional sound and heat shielding was added underneath new carpeting, which is protected by three original-style vinyl mats. A Vintage Air A/C system was installed by Burlingame Motors in California in March 2018 at a cost of $4k according to a receipt in the gallery. A period AM radio plays through a single speaker mounted on the passenger firewall. The mechanical odometer is stopped at 874 miles, with total mileage unknown. Approximately 100 miles have been driven by the seller since January 2018.The black-painted engine bay is home to a carbureted 3.9-liter F155 inline-six which produced 125 horsepower and 209 lb-ft of torque from the factory. The engine is said to have been rebuilt during the prior refurbishment. Power is sent to all four wheels through a floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case. A new clutch and rear main seal were installed under previous ownership, and the unassisted steering rack was freshened with heavy-duty tie rod ends and an Old Man Emu stabilizer.
