1990 Toyota Supra Turbo 5-Speed Hardtop Cloth

Up for sale is my daily driver, parts run hauling, solution creating, 1990 5-speed R154 HARDTOP Cloth Seat Turbo MK3 Supra. This is the only legit hardtop cloth 5-speed turbo 89'+ Supra that I have ever seen in person, almost every turbo car is also a targa top and leather, you just didn't get one option without the others usually. This is a super fair price considering it is the only hardtop 5-speed factory turbo car for sale anywhere right now and pretty much the only 5-speed turbo MK3 on ebay right now. This is the most reliable 7M-GTE I have ever owned though not the prettiest. Kind of the same philosophy as the millennium falcon. The hatch carpet was already F'd from the previous owner so I used it to haul parts for other projects. Plus it is a 5-Speed and as a weekend parts runner that is just much more fun than all the other automatic cars I have to drive. I will admit a 5-speed is not as fun in traffic but out in the country it cannot be beat. Is it faster than an automatic or SMG box car? Not necessarily but as far as experiences and simple strength go it cannot be beat. The R154 is a beast of a transmission, one of the strongest Toyota ever offered in a production car only 2nd to the Getrag V160 in the following Supra.

Speaking of Supras can we talk for a brief moment here about how much of an abortion the new MK5 BMW I mean Supra is?I went to college for Toyota T-Ten originally and have been working on them my whole life, but they have lost me with their profit based decision making after like 2003.First they try to capitalize off the FJ-40 with the silly FJ Cruiser that was just a 4runner with 3 wiper blades and nothing like the original but at least it is still a Toyota. Then they try to capitalize off the AE86 Corolla with the Toyota 86 subaru joint project which is not a terrible vehicle but surely isn't anything like an AE86 Corolla has more in common with the sports 600 but isn't even 100% Toyota either. Then they bastardize the Supra name with a base model BMW Z4 that has ZERO Toyota parts on it other than the fact that the exterior looks different.I mean they didn't even bother to change the interior or a single mechanical component. The car is 100% a BMW Z4 that has been rebadged as a Supra and it doesn't even have the more powerful version of the engine, it go the lowest power version they make with only an Auto trans AND this only makes like 15 more HP than the Supra did 26 YEARS AGO!Oh and it is also going to cost way more than a Mustang GT which will absolutely roast the supra in every category which is just sad.I grew up hating Mustang/Corvette owners, but sadly their cars are a much better idea to spend your money on.You can get 700hp out of either spending less than 40k, they are much more reliable and easy to work on than a BMW, they look better, parts are cheaper, should I go on?Toyota deserves to be disowned for continuing down their path of profit seeking greedy actions that disregard their entire past followers that followed for the right reasons.

If you want to buy a real authentic 100% Toyota made supra here is one of the less common ones you'll find.Being a factory turbo 5-speed hardtop cloth seat in the later year MK3 model range is very rare, like I said up top almost every turbo car is also a targa top and leather because most turbos were optioned up.If you don't know why being a hardtop is important, try taking the targa top off a MK3 and then drive over some off camber bumps, the targa chassis flex like crazy. If you jack the car up on one side with the targa top off you cannot get it back on until you set the car on the ground lol.Plus they take 9 years to take on and off with their 4x allen screw design instead of quick release latches like the MK4 supras and every other T-Top car ever made. And they leak water and they rust which this one doesn't.

I am selling this one because I recently found a mint one owner burgundy 89 turbo that frankly just has all the restoration work I was going to do to this one done already so I decided to take the easy route and pony up the coin for the one that is already mint. This white one doesn't need much other than a paint job to be pretty close to done, I just don't have a good resource in a body shop around here. Most of the mechanical maintenance I have already taken care of.This car doesn't have the most perfect history but it is much better than most.I have a carfax showing the entire deal.It had one accident in 1992 which I have no idea what the damage was because there is no record but being so close to when the car was new it would have been most likely fixed at a Toyota body shop under insurance. All of the factory VIN stickers are still present on the fenders/quarters/doors.Other than that one incident it has no other issues, it has had 3 owners total spent most of its life in NY city and then went to Florida which is where I found it.There was one state inspection station that typed the miles in wrong but that was obviously a mistake, not enough time had elapsed, the miles on the cluster are 100% legit and make chronological sense. Here are the rest of the details on the car.

Interior:Interior wise it is in pretty darn good shape for the age.The seats since they are NOT leather are still in great shape with no real issues, power seat works fine on the drivers side passenger is manual. The dash has zero cracks as the car was garaged most of its life (what the prior owner told me).Radio works, heat/AC works it was a Florida car so they had to have working A/C to survive and it has already been retrofitted to R134A, power windows work, the power antenna of course does not but it also has the antenna on top of the hatch glass.Wipers work, gauges all work though the boost gauge isn't the most accurate they never are.A few of the gauge light bulbs need to be replaced that is easy to do I never bothered. The rest of the controls work fine, the shift knob is not OEM but it is ok, glove box stays closed which is a big thing for MK3 supras hah.I had to replace both window switches they are friggin $140!

Exterior:Exterior wise the car is meh.It looks great in pics and 20 feet away but I'll be the first to tell you whoever painted it prior to me did a $hit job though it is very shiny and it is pearl. The car is originally a super white car and the body trim was not supposed to be white.Someone sprayed the whole thing pearl white. It has a couple dents in the left ¼ along with a touched up surface rust spot under the left taillight. The roof has a few dents that could easily be PDR'd out (paintless dent removal), the front bumper has a couple cracks at the bottom but the fiberglass lip holds it together just fine. The front lip is my favorite part about the car, and someone put a newer Toyota logo on the front bumper which is what it should have being a 1990 car not sure why it has the older nose piece. The chassis is very straight no evidence of any legit damage ever happening and like I said the factory VIN stickers are all there. The undercarriage has no rust I even took some pics of it in the air so you can see.All the lights work, including the reverse lights which I just put a new reverse light switch on the transmission to fix because they weren't working when I got it.The fog lights have power but they both got taken out by some rocks over the years on the interstate, just need to put some new ones in.If you know someone that can do some basic body work and a decent paint job you could have a super nice car, the paint will come off the original trim pieces with some paint thinner I tested it in one spot or you can leave them painted. No cracks in the glass anywhere. Yes it says turbo and supra on the rear trim pieces it is just hard to see because the ass clowns painted over it.

Mechanical:Mechanical wise the car is totally daily driveable.Shifts right into every gear no issues because R154 of course it does. The only thing I haven't gotten around to is replacing the thermostat, the old one is stuck open and it doesn't get above the bottom ¼ ever on the temp gauge.Since 7M-GTE have head gasket issues stock I just let it run cooler in the hot southern summer, but if you take it up north I would put a new thermostat in it.It has fresh NGK plugs, NGK wires, fuel filter, and it just had an oil change with Castrol synthetic 10w-40 and fomoco filter.I also just put a brand new legit K&N filter on the HKS air flow adapter.Someone put a legit HKS sports Air Flow kit on this car at some point but the air filter was getting old so I put a new K&N on it that is a little bigger. The previous owner replaced the exhaust from the cat back with a stockish exhaust, I wouldn't say it is any louder than stock but it flows a little better. The timing belt, water pump, and headgasket were already done before I got the car.I was told they used ARP studs and a Cometic MLS headgasket and it sure runs like they did.It fires right up, has a new battery and new battery terminals on the cables.Doesn't smoke, doesn't knock, doesn't even tick because I did the valve clearance adjustment not that long ago, I also set the timing to factory spec at the same time but the cover for the CPS does need to be replaced.Doesn't leave oil spots behind, drives great.I also just put brand new rear brake calipers, rotors, and pads on while also doing an adjustment of the parking brake shoes so the E-brake is TIGHT.The car comes with front pads I just haven't put them on because they haven't run out yet.The tires are junk, like I said I just used it to get to work and make parts runs so I run el cheapo used take off tires, I have little regard for my life apparently I would recommend replacing them.No I didn't put these so so wheels on, no I don't really like them, but they are better than saw blades.I also just changed the transmission fluid with Pennzoil synchromesh! It really doesn't need anything to drive as is, it boosts strong, no leaks I have been through every damn vacuum line and hose in the engine bay and put zip ties on the ones that could pop off.It has never had a boost controller on it, runs stock boost. Also did a coolant flush with Toyota OEM red coolant and filled up the power steering fluid (I keep remembering stuff). The hatch struts work good, the hood struts work good, the clutch is meh it works but I would expect to replace it in another 10k miles just getting towards the end of its life.I also recently bled the brakes and the clutch hydraulic system with Motul brake fluid left over from my race Ducati 1100ss bike.

I think that is about it, if I missed anything or forgot something please ask, car has a clean clear title in my hand. Support the real Supra, ban the fake BMW garbage Supra. I can't wait to see all the videos on youtube of MK2/3/4 supras just straight annihilating the mk5 BMW in every category. EFF you Toyota, EFF you right in the a$$ without even going out to dinner first. I hope someone takes Toyota out to a nice lobster dinner and never calls them back again.
