I purchased this sprinter from it’s original owner who had stored this emerald gem since 1991. It was garaged indoors, luckily. An affiliate of a Southern California Toyota dealership this car was said to be given to her as a wedding gift after she relocated to Palo Alto Toyota in Northern California. This car has spent its whole life in California but was driven only up until 1991 before garaged. Reason for storing- overheated after a motor rebuild- per original owner.

Years ago after attending an Import event in California I began a search for a SPRINTER KE15 but gave up numerous times. When leads were given the car was usually out of the country, a compete rust bucket in a field or right hand side drivers somewhere in Australia or Thailand. Then one day- too good to be true there she was... tucked in my own backyard. An original Northern California 1969 Ke15 Sprinter- a green unicorn does exist :)

Condition:

The original paint shines but it’s 50 years old. The body is straight but shows it’s age. The front passenger fender looks to have been pushed in but repairable. The roof has dents and blemishes from stacking items while stored. Both the rear tail light lens have corner cracks but red taped to prevent further damage. All emblems badges are present and original. The glass are all in great shape. All windows work. All doors shuts and locks with keys. Gauges all work. Lights, signals and electrical functioning. Original seats: drivers and rear seat needs reupholstery. Carpet has been removed to check for rust and also due to age. Missing front passenger head light bezel, front passenger side turn signal bottom lens and rear passenger side marker lens- see pics. Needs headliner. Inside seems to be all original. Unsure of how or why this car was equipped with what seems to be a rare factory a/c option but then again the original owner was an affiliate of Toyota.

The gas tank was removed, cleaned and reinstalled. The radiator was removed, flushed, repainted and reinstalled. New water-pump, new belt, new fuel filter, hose and spark plugs. Drained the old motor oil then added some mystery oil, a battery a few manual hand cranks some pumps to the gas peddle and she fired right up!!! Runs good but needs carb adjustment. Sitting on roller tires with 13 inch wheels. Original 12 inch wheels with only 2 hubcaps included but the tires are shot. Also comes with a spare. I’ve lost contact with the original owner to discuss more about the engine. I turned to forums and some have mentioned that the block is indeed an early 3k with the numbers stamped I provided. Most were more interested in the air conditioning??? I have yet to attempt to drive the car but it has been moved around the driveway and started occasionally. Slow antifreeze leak found from the rear of engine where the head meets the main block. Maybe a head gasket... ??? As it sits and it’s condition I don’t trust myself as it’s so tempting to mod this little gem, then I’d regret it personally for not restoring it back to its glory- my opinion. It’s about complete and original as it comes according to my past searches., it deserves to be in the hands of a restorer or heck do what you desire. A California original perhaps the only one for sale on the West Coast. Don’t miss out on this one. Come get it before i change my decision as the Toyotafest is fast approaching... Yes it is a 1969 Toyota Corolla Sprinter Ke15, manual with air conditioning in California- tell a friend.
