1986 Toyota Other

Up for bid is my 1986 Toyota LE Van. I purchased this van about 9 months ago with a grand plan to turn it into a stealth camper for weekend trips to the mountains. Well, I have a place up in the mountains now and other projects have taken priority and I’ve just never gotten started on it. I went through the van and it is indeed a great start to a project or as-is for transportation. The paint is showing its age, though it has held up and looks good for its age. The sweet 80’s graphics have even survived and give the van a little extra panache. I haven’t located any rust on the vehicle that isn’t small spots on the surface- by the Carfax it appears to have spent all its days in the South. There is a dent near the rear bumper on the driver side, but I cannot find any indication of a significant accident. The tires have plenty of tread but have a bit of dry-rot. The A/C blows front and rear, but not cold. I could easily say it just needs a recharge, but given the time it may have been without Freon it probably needs a little more work. The PO claims to have converted it. It has a new battery of the proper size (it is common for folks to put too small a battery in these). The radio powers up, but does not play. I thought it needed a new alternator, so I ordered one and it comes with the van. The PO was nice enough to have already replaced it though along with the power steering pump (a leaking pump will take out the alternator) and my troubleshooting was incorrect- I just had to clean some connectors to correct some dimming lights on the dash. The PO also performed a major tune up on the van last summer to include new plugs, distributor cap/rotor, belts, and hoses as well as flushed the radiator and transmission. The interior is in good shape and I started to take the 80’s window tint off, but haven’t finished. The passenger seat has a mis-matched seat belt receiver as the old one had broken and these are no longer available. The sun visors could use replacement as well as they are a bit saggy. The van runs very well around town, though the suspension is a bit soft under load. Some air helper springs in the back to bolster the weak leaf springs and some new shocks all-round and I think it would be right-as-rain. I really hate to see this one go, but I have too many other projects that need attention and don’t want to let this one rot in storage. I would really like to see an enthusiast make something great with this van.
And now for the fine print… I am in possession of a clear South Carolina title in my name. The title will be signed over to the new owner once payment is complete. There are no liens on the vehicle. The vehicle is sold as-is, where-is. The vehicle is located in Hanahan, South Carolina. The vehicle will be fully paid for before the new owner or a shipper takes possession. Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I am more than happy to work with your shipper to arrange pickup once payment is complete. I am happy to take a certified check from your bank or of course cash in person. Only the deposit can be accepted via PayPal. If you want to send the full payment via PayPal, the buyer is responsible to pay PayPal’s fee on the balance (not the deposit).
I have tried to accurately represent the condition of the vehicle in the pictures included in the listing. If you have any specific areas you would like pictures of, please message me. If you have any questions, please message me and I will do my best to answer them.
