1963 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk

The Studebaker Hawk Gran Turismo was a sporty two door coupe that was sold between 1962 and 1964. Inspired by high end European luxury models from the premier design houses, the GT Hawk was a distinctive and unique vehicle. Designed to compete with the likes of the Ford Thunderbird and Pontiac Grand Prix, the GT Hawk never sold as well and is very rare today. Just 4,009 examples were sold in 1963 in the US market. The car was produced... in South Bend, Indiana and was one of Studebaker's last cars. It is estimated less than 900 examples are still on the road today. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this extraordinary GT Hawk for you consideration. Originally sold in Hathaway, OH, this car passed through a number of collectors hands before going through a massive restoration in Carefree, AZ. It is estimated that around $63k was spent on the high end restoration that included a body off repaint in slick black paint as well as a gorgeous new interior installed. Paint and trim are in perfect condition all the way to the underbody which looks nicer than when it left the factory. The interior features new red Ultra-Leather seats which are extremely soft and supple. Matching and contrasting trim and headliner was also installed. A custom air-conditioning system was installed in place of the heater and retains the original dash look. The car features a rebuilt 289cid V8 with a 4-bbl carburetor backed by a rebuilt 3-speed Flight-O-Matic automatic transmission and has a factory dress up kit with chrome pieces. Other new parts include fuel pump, carburetor, alternator, distributor, water pump, brake booster, fuel and brake lines, wheels cylinder, wheel bearings, transmission hardware, suspension and axle components. This is arguably the nicest GT Hawk you will see in a long time. Tons of time and money was spent on a no expense spared restoration and the car even has the original build sheet. These cars are rare vehicles but have not yet risen in value. That time will come and you will be glad you bought the nicest one you could find!
