1957 Packard Clipper - Supercharged

Price: - Item location: Newberry, Florida, United States
Description:

1957 Studebaker President

Up for auction is this 1957 Packard Clipper. While it looks great at a distance, please know that this car is pretty rough. While the frame is solid and the drivetrain is intact.. The body is rusty from one end to the other, top to bottom.
We're a full tilt Studebaker parts store, and we purchased this car with the intent to part it out. We felt it was unique enough to make an attempt to put it on the open market; you never know, maybe there's someone out there with the desire to own and restore a factory supercharged Packard sedan. The hood is solid and nice, the rest of the sheetmetal has rust issues. The car was bondo-ed and patched up many years ago, and for the last 15-20 years it's been used as an advertisement for a transmission shop. Needless to say, time and the elements hasn't been too kind to the car.
While the body is toast, the car does have the original LS-numbered 289 V8 with McCulloch supercharger setup. The supercharger itself will need to be rebuilt, but the setup is complete, with the exception of the special fuel pump and carb enclosure hoses. The rest of the brackets, pulleys, and associated hardware appear to be intact. The engine runs, and the car "yard drives", but please keep in mind that the engine is worn and tired. We'd recommend a full rebuild for long term use. Check out the video at the bottom of the listing to see the car in action.
The transmission is the original Flight-O-Matic, backed up with a 3.31 rear axle. The original rear sway bar setup is still in place as well.
We know that we can get more money than our starting bid by parting the car out, but these cars aren't too common. Here's your chance to "save" one, or have a complete supercharged 289 Golden Hawk drivetrain for your hot rod project.
We've already done the paperwork with the DMV, and a clear Florida title will be included with the car if it's sold. Any questions or requests, please ask. We'll do our best to respond to the best of our ability.
Thanks for lookin'!
