1970 Studebaker Avanti II

This Avanti II was built in 1969, and titled as a 1970, being sold in late 1969. The odometer shows 21250 miles. It features the stock Chevy Corvette 350 cid engine (modified with an Edelbrock intake manifold and carb), automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and factory A/C, which has been converted to R134-a. This is a driver, not a pristine show car, but is a very solid, presentable older restoration. Originally this Avanti (RQA-0339) was painted Mauve with "Souffle Cream" trim and "Bigelow Purple" shag carpet. As you can see from the photos, this is no longer the case, but is painted a maroon metallic with dark tan or camel vinyl seat upholstery and black carpet. There are a few chips in the paint, and a slight crazing on the front “nose.” Each front wheel-well has a small chip at the top of the arch, as pictured. The bumpers are serviceable, but need replacing. The previous owner used a foil adhesive to cover some blemishes, and I have never taken the time to replace these. Hood, decklid and doors close clean and tight. Windows roll up and down, and vent windows open and close correctly. The hog-troughs are solid.

The brakes and power steering have been rebuilt professionally, and it runs and stops very well. It has a new battery. Not sure what the mileage on the tires might be, but they are in good condition with even tread wear. Comes with documentation including the original production order, a spare NOS wheel cover, and a car cover. The A/C works, as does the Kenwood stereo receiver (with rear speakers), speedometer/odometer, fuel gauge, manifold pressure/vacuum gauge, temperature gauge, and ammeter. Upholstery is good, but slightly worn front seats. Equipped with seat-belts. All lights, signals, blowers and switches work. The glass is good all the way around, as are the glass headlight covers. Also included is a CD-ROM with the Avanti Service Manual.

What doesn’t work? The horn, clock, and tachometer. It comes with an electronic tach driver, but this has never been installed.

This is an unusual car with an easily serviced engine and transmission, and is one of just over 100 built that year. It has a clean Missouri title, and is located in the Kansas City area. This car is being sold without warranty, as is, where is. The winning buyer will be required to arrange pick-up and shipping within one week of the close of this auction.

This was posted previously but removed while some minor exhaust and front end issues were being addressed.
