1990 Saab 900 Turbo

I bought my Saab turbo from well-known video game developer John O'Neill, who wrote Lifespan and The Dolphin's Rune (see Wikipedia for more info). At that time, the head gasket had failed, so I had the head resurfaced, added a new timing chain, tensioners, head gasket and lapped the valves. The starter and alternator were both rebuilt, along with the Garrett turbocharger. It now runs excellent and has a really great turbo whistle on acceleration, and the power is awesome! I recently inherited another car, so I need to reluctantly the Saab.I had the transmission serviced and the mechanics gave it a thumbs-up. The shift points are correct and it is very smooth.I also have a very low mileage 5-speed transmission that I bought from a Saab mechanic and all the parts to convert it. The extra transmission came from a 1989 SPG with 65K that had been wrecked. I never got around to swapping the transmissions because the current transmission runs great.I've owned three, 900 turbo convertibles and searched a long time for this specific car...the 1990 has the airbag, but not the problematic electric seats of the 1991. It also has the rare, Beryl green paint, which was only offered in 1990 and 1991. It is the most beautiful color of all Saabs in my opinion, and the black top and trim looks stunning with this particular green. Saabs are very reliable cars, and the 900s are interesting because the engine is backwards and sits on top of the transmission which gives it great traction on hills and ice.
The convertible top has some rips in it, but I am including a nearly-new Haartz German top that I have not yet installed. My Saab also comes with the rare convertible boot cover, which looks GREAT when the top is down. I installed new TRW rotors, Bosch fuel pump, brake pads and I also have some new parts such as brake lines, water hoses, catalytic converter etc. The windows are original and look great. I have a LOT of receipts for all the work performed and I also have the original manual with warranty booklet, etc. There is no rust, and the original dealer license plate frames are still on the car!The interior is OK for it's age...the driver's leather seat is not ripped, but the stitching is coming out. My friend who owns a shoe store offered to re-stitch both seats but I haven't done that yet.Electrically, everything works including the original Clarion radio and equalizer. I just added Bosch fog lamps, also! It has the factory Saab floormats and the optional Carlsson exhaust.Believe it or not, this Saab has never been damaged or repainted. There are two small door dings which can be removed at a paintless dent removal shop. Other than that, the body is very straight! This car almost passes the very strict CA emissions test. The issue is that the cylinder head was resurfaced .004" over, which raised the compression slightly. The smog guy says I have a few options: install a thicker head gasket or install a "super cat" catalytic converter, which will make it pass. This car will pass emissions in all remaining 49 states, and I have the smog test to show how close it comes to passing in CA. Perhaps a few tweaks are all is necessary to pass in CA, but I don't have time to do this with my new business venture. I would like this car to go to a Saab enthusiast more than trying to get top dollar for it. For this reason, I will help arrange shipping the car to anywhere in the US on an auto transport. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me!-Thomas
