1973 Saab Sonett
This old Sonett belonged to a real cool cat. The kind of guyyou'd expect to meet at a black folks jazz clubaround 2:30 am. A real laid back east coaster thefellow was. We sport haggled back & forth for a few hours and settled into a deal. He told me I could have one of his beers if the babywasn't asleep in my honda. The man had sunk $5grand into the Sonett just kind of playing around. He had the coin and the good techs at Saab Replay inBerkeley were more than happy to tinker away onthe old girl. The top end was rebuilt, brakes, fuel system, you name it, they touched it.The Saab crackles a cool little crackle and the fuel delivery should be sorted out more. Not enough fuel is making it into the engine. Oh it will squeal the tires for 20 feet and you should hold on tight to the wheel. Its not going to get away from you oranything & the take offis satisfying.Aficionados mention the excellent ventingsystem in this vehicle. Lots of cool air comes in no problem. Nobody wants sweaty shortshitting" thetwisties. Thelittle car turns heads and seems to beappreciating lately. Maybe hop on the swedish ship before it sails like 914's did.Theman did not complete the door cards. He meticulously cut the panel backing and stopped there. The seats have been dyed and the interior used to have more tan to it. There aresome little nicks in the body I have photo'd for those who care. The tiresandwheels are in good shape. Thelittle car needs a new caretaker who will get it out on the road and knock the dust off. Its a funlittle cruiser that will fit in with any collection ofquirky vehicles. Please ask your questions and we willget back to you. Happy Hunting! from Cars and dogs, Rus and Dan.
